Default I've always said it

I've always been on the side that thinks that Law avoiding, responsible, citizens gun owners are a good thing.

Never understood restrictions to carry your concealed weapon on places like universities, malls, etc...
Crooks do not follow the law, so by limiting the law abiding citizens to carry on these places, we are only giving some huge advantage to the perps...
Who know what would had happened if a teacher in Virginia Tech, would have had a concealed weapon, or columbine, or the university on germany...

Well... we do not have to assume any more, because it happened at a BK on MIAMI...

Kudos to the guy and I prey for his quick recovery!!!!
I can not imagine, the legal crap that he is going to have to go thru, and I hope they start some kind of fund raiser for his legal defense... I will gladly contribute!!!!

I know that a lot of you guys will chime in saying that he took justice on his own hands, and that his life wasn't in danger, and LEO saying how dangerous it is to pull that stunt, and look what he got in return.... BUT AT LEAST IN MY BOOK HE IS A HERO.... and theres one less scumbag less in the world to try to reabilitate....

1 dead, one injured in Miami Burger King shooting
By ROBERT SAMUELS AND JENNIFER LEBOVICH
jlebovich@MiamiHerald.com
One man was killed and another seriously wounded in a shootout inside a Miami Burger King on Tuesday, officials said.

Police said a man wearing a ski mask walked into the store at Biscayne Boulevard and 54th Street and demanded money from a clerk.

A customer, who has a concealed weapons permit, pulled a gun, said Officer Jeff Giordano, a Miami police spokesman.

The customer and robber exchanged fire.

The robber was shot dead at the scene.

The customer, who had several gunshot wounds, was taken to Ryder Trauma Center in serious but stable condition, said Lt. Ignatius Carroll, a Miami Fire Rescue spokesman.

At about 4 p.m., officials got several 911 calls reporting people shot inside the Burger King.

'd like to think the NRA will step up to the plate.

I'm not sure CNN will cover it. If a fund is mentioned please post it.

I'm sure that in the actual conditions of our citenzery... we will see a fund for the "poor kid that was so good and nice and rehabilitating himself killed brutally by the gun toting white devil", before the other poor guy get even out of the hospital

Emudryj,
I think you have the wrong idea about most of the rank and file LEO's. Most of us would prefer more legally armed citizens with CCW licenses. Here in Florida the Dept of Agriculture had to hire many new temp workers to keep up with the demand. As long as you pass the simple questionaire and background and have a little training, you get a license here in 90 days...

Hopefully this good guy recovers soon in good health. Once you make that decision to go to war, there is no backing out. You must use good tactics and your warrior spirit..

As long as the CCW holder is protecting himself or someone else from a deadly force situation, it sounds by the comments in the article he will be good, legally (by Florida law)

Sorry Cracker... I didn't mean to generalize, but I know some higher rank LEOs that in an effort to be politically likable, would jump in the liberal bandwagon that less weapons means less crime...

I have a few LEO friends, regular old time LEOs not trying to climb the political ladder any more, and they all agree with your statement...

I know about the backlog on the license since one of my neighbors been waiting 3 months for his.... I got mine in 3 weeks.

I heard about this this morning on the radio and the robbers mother was quoted saying that if there was gun control here in the US that her son would still be alive. WTF, he was comitting an armed robbery and someone defended themselves and others and was shot 3 times by her son and she blames the lack of gun control.

If americans were not deprived of their constitutionally protected rights, I firmly believe that crime rates would go down and even things like 9-11 may have been averted.

I would have to agree with Cracker also. I always said when I was on the job, that if I knew that everybody was carrying, it would make my job a lot easier. And just think, if that bad guy walked into the BK and thought that every customer inside at the time might be carrying, he would more than likely turn around and walk out. Either way, it's good to see the good guys win one every now and then.

A couple of months ago one of our local BKs was being renovated. During the construction the dining room was closed, and drive-thru only service was available. A young thug banged on the door and wanted to eat inside. he wasn't satisfied that the mgr told him he would have to use the drive-thru, so he left and came back and tried again. More angry, he went to the drive-thru and shot and killed the mgr thru the window. Mgr was a vet with family and good community service. It wasn't racial at all, because both were the same race. Really sad.

http://www.thestate.com/154/story/709391.html

Happened here a few weeks back.

No public outrage...I think everyone has the same sentiment as the Sheriff and prosecutor.

They even interviewed the young mans parents on the local news (the young man that was killed). They said something to the effect that yes they were upset but they could not hold it against the pizza man.
