Well, technically she was ill for an hour or so before fading to black.

41 people in the US died today from a fall, just like every day. Why is this one special? Because she's famous? They are all equally deserving of your prayers.

Very sad. My assistant's husband died the same way in a skiing accident.

Wasn't she ill after the accident?

I saw the heading on the web news that she was "critical". Assumed it was a sickness and didn't read the details.

Unfortunately there is talk saying her death could have possibly been avoided if her condition was properly diagnosis in the first place. A friend of ours just about died from being misdiagnosis while having a brain aneurysm.

Let's not be too quick to feed the rumor mill about mis-diagnosis, I'm sure the people that were with her feel badly enough as is. Sorry to hear about your friend's aneurysm, but (because I ski and have friends that are instructors and/or patrollers) I've read everything I can find about the Natasha Richardson accident and I haven't come across any suggestion of mis-diagnosis. In fact, there's every indication that all involved went above and beyond the call of duty. Whether this was due to her celebrity status or not is unimportant. When she refused treatment her ski instructor (and maybe one of the ski patrol - i.e. first aid staff) accompanied her back to her hotel and stayed with her for an hour or more to try to ensure that she was OK. Unfortunately she wasn't OK. Tragic, tragic accident to be sure, I'm sure there will be some serious inquiries into all the details, and MAYBE some things will surface that "could have/should have" been handled differently, but - for now - an accident nonetheless.

Felling nausea after a a fall or head trauma is perfect example of internal bleeding.

Drowsiness
Nausea
Vomiting
Confusion
Memory loss
Blurred vision
Syncope
Headache
Pupil changes
Irritability

I saw alot of these in Iraq. It is sad that anyones dies from these types of injuries, as some are treatable with early detection.

Could also be signs that Coral has had too much to drink.

Read a story today that called this type of death "talk and die syndrome". It went on to say that the head injury can actually be quite "mild" and that the patient will say they are fine, walk and talk and act just fine, but that over the course of the next hour to three hours (general timeline) that bleeding builds pressure on the brain and that death comes quickly. Scary stuff - she was on a bunny slope when it happened.
another "life is short" lesson in this for all of us. Makes me all the more ready to downsize and live simplier .... less stuff, less hassel, less worry - more time to do nothing except smell some roses (and fresh brewed coffee).
