I remember, like it was yesterday, when man walked on the moon for the first time. We once pulled off I-95 on a trip to visit my Grandparents in Hollywood to watch an Apollo launch in the 60's. I think were around 50 miles away and we could feel the power of the Saturn V winning the battle against gravity.

Watched it from our causeway tonite. Unusual white cloud formed where the boosters dropped off. Outstanding shot!

Been watching these things for 50 years. Saw the first manned shot while in high School in Titusville. Principal said "The school board won't let us out to watch the shot, so we're having a fire drill. Everyone to the front of the building!"

Glen E., apparently, your back yard and my back yard face tthe same way The cloud that formed was cool. My kids were convinced it was the hole the shuttle made when it went into space!

I'll get some pics up tonight. We used my daughter's camera last night and of course, she won't let me near it!!

We also brought a friend who is a professional photographer for his first launch experience. It may be a while before I get his shots because he won't let anything out before he has cropped it.

Over the years we have gone to at least 90% of the launches. Because last night was just over sunset, the colors in the smoke trail were incredible.

As usual, we were on the water in Titusville.

I only got to see the launch on FOX last night, but I sure would love to see and hear one of those go up once in my life. Thanks for the pictures.

Yes, this was an especially pretty launch. We always get a good shot of it from Jacksonville.

But Tireless, I think you are mistaken...our esteemed Congresswoman from Jacksonville, Corrine Brown, said man walked on Mars...yes, we know the truth but apparently she doesn't having been the pride and joy of our local public school education.

OK, back to the launch. Very cool last night.

Great shots. Wish I could see and feel it up close. Did see it once from a plane on the way from ATL to FLL. Just happened to have a window seat on the portside. Captain alerted the passengers of the launch and you could feel the trim of the plane change. Saw a bright light on the ground, the stream of flame behind it as it climbed. We were over Orlando at the time. Once it got up you could really notice the speed. Incredible experience.

Thumbs up

Watched it from the front yard last night; Cape is about 40 miles away. Spectacular, as always. This shot shows the solid boosters falling away from the shuttle, and the beginnings of the huge white cloud that others have referenced; wish I had taken a shot of the cloud after it was fully developed.

Just a minute or two before the launch, I watched two planes leaving Orlando and heading east; one was a Virgin Atlantic 747. I know those folks got quite a show!

These are from my daughter's camera. Right across the river in Titusville.

Beautiful launch!
