Probably the first thing you ought to do is to check your spelling..

lol yeah what he said.

Be a little more specific and what type of work you are looking for and ill give you some good employment websites, So what do you wanna work on...
1. tugs,ferry's,tankers,cruise ships,fishing,launch,dredge?
2. Do you have an MMD/Zcard?
3. Do you have a TWIC?

I am going through the same thing you are and have a good sense of what you need and where to look but I just need a little more info.

Find a region that you like and start calling the Seatow's and TowBOAT/US's. If possible I would suggest attempting to get your near coastal vs inland. It will open up your possibilities.

Check with NYwaterways and NYwatertaxi if you have your 100 ton license.

just my 2 cents

Good luck.

Lol, yeah what KA said.

Especially when you can't spell ferries, or I'll, yourself.

I maintain a website that may provide some helpful information:

http://www.commercialcaptains.com/

Take a look at the jobs link as well.

Good luck.

Boy is kingair on the right track. C'mon, we have an absolute OCEAN of misspellings and grammar errors on here every day, every night, and when the rare person bothers to correct them, if who he is correcting is any one of the "regular" guys, others immediately tell the corrector that he's a "spelling Nazi" or a "grammar Nazi" or whatever.

Probably this guy can drive boats; at least that's what his license says. What earthly gain is there in pissing on his spelling? Send him a PM if you really care that it might hurt his job chances to spell wrong on the app. (Which I suppose it might.)

While I agree with KA on one level, A little ball busting here might mean that the OP rechecks his resume. That may mean someone actually reads it all the way through.

Yes, not hiring someone for a misspelled word may mean missing a great employee, but the truth is, The guy needs every advantage (or as few disadvantages as possible) while trying to find work.

I have been out of a job before, It is the hardest "job" I ever had.

Spelling aside, you dont have a good chance of finding anything. Im assumeing your towing endorcment is for SeaTow type boats and not tugs. An inland license is not very marketable to those guys unless you are in the midwest/great lakes and thats mostly going to be a summer job. If you dont have a TWIC card forget it no one can hire you without it if you have a license. My advice go get a merchant mariners document and try to get a job on a tugboat. Dont expect to be a captain either you have about 5 years on deck first.

You should have been told that you needed a TWIC card by the CG. The USCG site will tell you what you need for a MMD or "Z" card. You arleady have a license to run charters with in the GLs, just get that TWIC card or your License is worthless with out it as of April 15 2009.
