From NBC News

It may have seemed like an emergency at the time, but a Connecticut man is now regretting his call to 911.
The man, 35-year-old Brian Poulin of Hebron, was arrested Sunday after police said he called 911 several times and asked them to bring him beer. Hebron was charged with disorderly conduct.
Police said he called 911 numerous times and told the dispatcher he was out of beer and asked them to pick up more for him. Poulin was transported to Windham Community Memorial Hospital after officers arrested him at his home.
Police did not say what he was treated for.
He is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Rockville on Nov. 20.

A little after 1 a.m. Saturday, a 911 dispatcher got a call from a clerk at 7-Eleven. The clerk said a drunk customer was being abusive and threatening to her because she refused to sell him more beer.
A few minutes later, 911 got another call — from the customer, Armando Merino, who cussed and was “abusive” to the dispatcher, officials said.
Officers from the Police Department got to the scene and, according to a report, tried to calm him down to get his side of the story. An officer said the man smelled of alcohol, was unsteady and continued to berate the clerk and officers.
“After numerous attempts to calm the subject down” officers arrested him on a charge of disorderly conduct and transported him to jail.

Too bad she qualified for a Notice to Appear citation. She definitely deserved a trip down to jail....

Obviously calling 911 is inappropriate, but if I went somewhere paid money for goods then told out of stock and try to switch to something I dont want/need I probably would call the police (on their non emergency line)

I hope your kidding ?? Because that kind of attitude is exactly why all government services are stretched so thin particularily police and fire. That seems to be a very prevelent attitude in people on government assistance

To be truthful, probably not. I would try to speak to the manager and if the manager could not reasoned with then I would contact the owner of the franchise. I usually try not to take it out on the lower employees.

That said, to have taken money for a product that you dont have and will not give the money back is theft as far as I am concerned.

Since this is over $5 it simply wouldn't be worth my time, but if we are talking $500 or $5000 then you are darn right I would call the police. I mean what else are you supposed to do...take a product that you dont want or need or just lay over and let them have the money. It isnt like you can just take a pound of flesh (as tempting as that might be ).

Any transaction of this type, short of an out and out fraud, is civil. Police are powerless to help as we only deal with Criminal Situations... Civik Court, Protesting from public property, etc. are all appropraite reactions to civil issues..... Always remember their must be criminal intent involved for Police to help. I do agree the woman should get her money back thou...

She called 3 times. That particular McDonalds is only 2 blocks from "Avenue D", the most notorious, drug ridden street on the Treasure Coast. Can you say crack ho?

Appreciate it. Definitely see your point.

LOL, I guess I could say I am not leaving until I get my money back so if they try to kick you out they can call the police for you.

I suspect as usual there is more than one side to the story and I would be surprised if a McDonalds wouldnt refund on something that they dont have. I can understand if they dont refund on something that is 3/4 eaten.
