Default And the Winner For Best Tasting Coffee Is ...

I know there isn't much interest here in coffee, but ...

Eight O’Clock Coffee nabbed first place in Consumer Reports’ blind test of 19 ground coffees. -- costs about $6.28 per pound. ... Consumer Reports’ blind-tasting coffee experts focused exclusively on 100% Colombian—a top-selling bean—for regular coffee. Most of the decaf coffees are a variety of different beans.

CAFFEINATED
Best combination of taste and price:
Eight O’Clock, at $6.28 per pound.

Peet's Coffee, Starbucks, and Maxwell House didn't make the grade.

DECAFFEINATED
Best combination of taste and price:
Folgers, at $8.55 per pound

And for your Dunkin Donuts fans, in the DECAF dept notes is this:

More money, slightly better flavor: Dunkin’ Donuts, at $10.25 per pound and Millstone, at $11.59 per pound ...

We have been buying Eight O'Clock for years. I was surprised that A&P sold the brand a few years ago, and even more surprised just how much they received from the buyers (forgot the amount, but it was huge).

Can't/won't drink decaf coffee - horrible chit unfit for humans.

Since we got a Keurig, been testing lots of different kinds. so far the Green Mountain Kona Blend and Green Mountain Lake & Lodge are leading. Just put another order in yesterday for some different varieties. Just getting started!

Sounds like a real valid study. lol. 8 O'Clock is actually decent but saying it is better than starbucks or peets is really a bit rich (no pun intended )

They clearly used the guise of "100% Columbian" to eliminate many of Peets or Starbucks better coffees.

Now I'm not a coffee drinker, but many I've overheard have said Tim Horton's coffee is the best.

Not surprised 8 Oclock won.. It is the best!
Gonna go get cup #1 for the morning right now!

BTW, Walmart has great price on the big bag, like $10.50 is the regular price!

On the road I drink D'n'D or Wawa

I generally go without if all I can have is Starbucks. Too acidy tasting to me, all their flavors

Yup, Eight O'Clock is the exclusive bean used at the Ludicrous household.

In my opinion, Martinson's is the best as far as store bought/home brew goes.

I start out with a $.75 coffee from the Roach Coach at the train station, nothing special but it gets the heart pumping. The same guys been serving for over 15 years.
Then it's on to my taliban coffee man @ 22nd and 5th. $1.25 and it stands up to the ovepriced botique coffees.
I spend too much on boating and fishing to throw money at $6 coffee's!

This is my favorite. One rounded scoop per 8 oz cup. I have done the grind your own routine and always come back to Kronung.

If I can't get my Kona, eight o'clock drip out of a 45 year old percolator pot of dad's on the stove top is hard to beat.
