Default My car celebrates 400,000km today

Hi,

400,000km in Vietnam. Land Cruiser 4,500cc, 24 valves gas engine but:
no power steering, no electronic ignition (still that spinning switch), no injection. Still over 200 HP and a truck torque.

Haven't decided to replace it yet I love it.

250,000 miles, I once worked with a guy who's dad had 300,000 miles on a Ford Mustang. Proper maintenance will do wonders for longevity

No the car is from 1992. Maneuvering it on a parking lot requires a lot of muscles to turn the wheel. A good old bitch

We have a new toyota (a year) that already rust.

FIL had 325,000 miles on his 99 F250 he sold about a year ago. A battery, alternator and a few of those sensors and that was it. Amazingly it still had the original clutch as well...still can't figure that one out.

You're in Vietnam. Isn't there some kind of law that you are required to ride a Vespa?

Those old cruisers are awesome vehicles. Yours is probably different from the ones we get over here but my old 1997 FJ80 had right around 220k miles on it when I sold it and it never missed a beat. That straight 6 is a monster. Only bitch I had was it would eat front rotors and pads. Good luck with the future longevity.

From the looks of the interior, it is in excellent condition.

A nice looking dash too.

How about a pic of the exterior?

A friend of ours has a Nissan Patrol. Do you have any of those over there?

I had a GMC truck that I "drove to the moon"..240,000 miles. Got there, said to myself "That;s stupid, who's gonna buy a truck on the moon?" Started driving home. Sold it to my daughters boyfriend at 290,000 or so. Certainly any pickup truck or similar vehicle can go 300,000 miles if properly maintained.

Congrats to XV2 for taking care of his stuff.

several repaintings. Did coating meterings, some places reach 1mm. It may be that there is no steel but just paint keeping all together.

No, but now is a law requiring helmets (finaly). Just have to learn to fasten it.

400,000km in vietnam is exceptional in itself due to:
poor road conditions;
poor petrol
poor oil
poorly equipped mechanics
average speed 30mph
and add on that I fired 2 drivers for runing the engine with the oil level not anymore touching the tip of the gauge.
