Glock 23 40 S &W or Glock 19 9 MM for compacts, In full size, Browning Hi Power (very thin in the small of the back, or Colt Commander in .45 ACP for the Shoulder rig (Miami Classic, very nice) I likke the single actions as I have Smaller hands. Sig 220, 225 (compact) and 226, 229 also good choices.

I'm partial to Sigs.
239 is easier to carry than the 220 or 226. It depends what your wearing.

The WartHog is nice for .45 with 10 rounds.

All good suggestions but it also boils down to what you will carry. The .22 in the pocket is better than the .45 in the car. I've tried mid size and compact .45's and finally settled down on a S&W J-Frame. The wife carries the 638 with +P's and I just started carrying a S&W M&P 340 in a .357.

I will carry a full size 1911 in the car console, motorcycle saddlebag, or boat bag but for on body carry the J-Frames are hard to beat.

Depending on clothing...I have the Glock G27 .40 Cal and Kel Tec P3AT .380 Cal. The Kel Tec goes in the pocket much more often. If you want a "shootin" gun don't count on the Kel Tec for it. It's a "throw away".

I have the keltec .32 but the .380 is about the same. I like it because of its size. all the others are too big to carry reguraly and the keltec you can always have with you. You could also look at SCYY (SKYY) 9mm if you are wanting something of a bigger caliber, it is lighter than the keltec 9mm and a little better to carry

I think the most important factor in the ease of carrying a gun is its width. I like thin single stack semi autos for carry.

I always have a Ruger LCP 380 with me. Its thin, light, and small. But I don't have a lot of confidence in the 380 round.

I usually have a full size stainless 1911 in 45. Its thin but heavy and big. I have a lot of confidence in the 45 round.

I carried a S&W 38 airweight for years (good gun) and easily concealed even in shorts... I wanted more capacity so I went with a Glock 27 (40 cal). It goes with me everywhere in a front pocket holster by Desantis (easily accessible). If I am wearing light shorts I carry it on a shoulder bag, I sling like a purse on my shoulder. Whatever you get I would stay 9mm or bigger and get something that you can and will carry. What ever you carry run at least 100 preferrably more, rounds through it and run the ammo through it you will be carrying so you know the gun wont jam (both mags also)...Good Luck

Also look at the thread below, LOTS of good info

Walther PPK .380 for me

You can't see it on me. (pancake holster)
Remember concealment is the key and the only thing you might have left in a bad situation is the element of surprise.
Yea the bigger calibers will bowl over an elephant but they are "mule legs" and harder to conceal especially in warmer climates / lighter clothes.
Remember, all you want to do is get out of a bad scene or stop / deter one from escalating.

just my 2 cents

a .45 is great but i don't think it is a practical carry gun. i have a 1911 and couldn't imagine carrying it all the time. I fyou get a carry gun that is too big and not easy to carry you end up leaving it at home or in the car more often. Get something light and easy to carry. a .380 is on the smaller side but no one wants to get shot. i think in most cases the .380 is enough, pus is already mentioned the .380 on you is better than the .45 if its not on you

If you want to have something to carry just remember a gun fight has never broken out in the glove box and the spouse needs to understand and have gun control. (Hitting what you aim at) As for a carry I like my Glock 27, and my little 2 shot 40S&W American Derringer. Just hold on when you pull the trigger.

Wheel gun, S&W 340 PD, very small J frame you can practice with 38s and carry with 357s, nothing beats a revolver for simplicity and safety.

I carry a Taurus Millenium Pro 9mm, or a Ruger LCP .380, depending on the clothing i'm wearing and where i'm going.
I really like the Walther PPS, and would like to switch over to it, but it only hold 8+1, whereas my Taurus holds 12+1.
You really need to look around at handle a bunch of different firearms that you are considering.
For carrying concealed you are going to want to stay light, something preferably thin (more comfortable to carry), yet something that holds a decent amount of rounds in at least 9mm or larger.

If it's not comfortable, you'll end up not carrying, most of us have been there. Biggest reason i bought the Ruger LCP, ultra thin, light,
so i carry alot more often.

A good quality comfortable holster will be a wise investment too.
