Default Any one know any thing about S&W and Remmington Shotguns?

I have a S&W Model 1000 12 gauge shotgun which is pretty much a copy of the Remington 1100 shotgun. I am trying to see if the stock and the forearm are the same or not. Even close enough would be fine. It is very hard finding the S&W parts but the rem 1100 stock and forearm can be easily be found at cabelas or many other places.

Just wanted to see if I could get a solid answer before I pull the trigger on an 1100 stock and forearm.

thanks

Shouldn't fit, just enough difference to keep it from doing so. Check Boyd's, Gunbroker and Guns America, should be able to find one there.....

Throw that S&W in a lake and go buy the Remmington. My buddy actually did that. Me on the other hand, I just traded in the S&W. The is the jammingest piece of chit gun I ever owned. I broke the thing down all the way every time I cleaned it and it would still gum up after 2 boxes of shells.

The gun hasn't been anything but reliable for me. I have shot boxes and boxes of shells shooting skeet over a weekend with not one jam or any thing.

it hasn't given me one reason to get rid of it yet.

The S & W 1000 was made by Howa.
The new S & W shotguns are imported from Turkey.

Yea S&W have not been in the shotgun bus. long. Get REM or look at the win even the moss is better. When al else fails look towards used as in pre 1970 the are all good depending on the purpose.

I have owned my S&W since the mid 80's and it has been nothing but 100% reliable to me. I hunt everything in VA and never had a miss fire except on some reloaded dove shells.

I have to agree with others though..there are no parts or very scarce for it. I would buy an 870 Reminton if mine ever craps out. My son has an 870 and it is a nice gun.

My brother owns a S&W 12ga that is very early 80's or late 70's, he bought it used. It doesn't have a lot of rounds thru it but I know he won't keep a POS and he does still have it.

Somewhere in the way back machine I thought the early ones were worth a few bucks. I should look on gun trader for fun.

S&W 1000 and Rem 1100 no interchangeable parts. I shot competitive skeet in the 70's & 80s both were popular guns, however they looked close and handled close they were built with different parts. The 1100 more dependable. Maybe with some work aftermarket parts maybe made to fit. Rear stock more easily than forearm.
