Default Formula for volume of gallons?

For example, my live well is 24 inches tall with a diameter of 22 inches. How can I figure out how many gallons it holds?

231 in^3 per gallon......so volume of a cylinder=3.14 x radius squared x height. In your case 3.14 x 11^2 x 24 = 9119. Divide by 231 = 39.4 gallons.

Pool owners, boaters and handymen should visualize then remember these 2 conversions..

One Cubic foot is 7.5 gallons,

One gallon water weighs 8.35 lbs - 62.5 lbs for a cubic foot - gasloine is about 6.3 lbs/gal

And your 3.8 liter V-6 is ...ta da ta da.. one gallon!

[12.5 amps (at 120 volts) = 1500 watts (heavy duty vacuum, space heater, hair dryer, etc) =2hp. (and also equals 5118 BTUs) So that tool or vacuum you bought that says 5 hp and runs on a 15 amp circuit is a lie. And if that air conditioner is much bigger than 5,000 BTUs , it ain't gonna work on a 15 amp circuit. I am always amazed that 8000 Btu units run on 15 amp circuits. 8,000 BTUs is 2300 watts or 20 amps! And this assumes the units are 100% efficient at turning electricity into cooling which it is not. But turning electricity into heat is ....]

Just some crap I keep in my head that I thought would be helpful......

You know, if you shook some of the crap out, you'ld have more room for good stuff like the 2009 tide tables for LI Sound.

Easy to figure out a straight square or rectangle shaped tank. In inches just multiply the length X width X hight and devide that answer by 231. Odd shapes takes a little more math.
