Anyone own one of these 4 wheelers (BMS Motorsport)
I have a friend looking to purchase one of these 400CC utility A models. I'm trying to help him find out the good, and bad.

I bought my son a Chinese POS quad last year for Christmas. The brand is SunL. Looks the same as the BMS. Basicaly all I can say is you get what you pay for. For me, I knew that going in on it. He was only 6 at the time and I didn't want to spend the $$ on a Polaris or other name brand so for $ 700.00 he got a Chinese one. It's a 110 and it works OK but it has never been off-road and probably wouldn't last off-road for that matter. He rides it in the back yard occasionally until I get pissed that he's ripping up the grass. I had a carb issue after only 2 months and the dealer took care of the issue. When I brought it back in he told me he was sorry he started carrying them even though they were a new low price-point line for him.

If your friend wants to be able to get down and dirty with an ATV I would go for a "real" one.

Re: Anyone own one of these 4 wheelers (BMS Motorsport)
Over the past few years there have been a million different "Generic brand" ATV's new to the market......some are total sh*t boxes and some of the bigger newer ones are half decent, but they will never come close to the quality and ability of the major brand atv's

Like everthing you get what you pay for, its not tlike chevy vs ford these things WILL fall apart. If you get half seriously into atv ridding and you get some experiance you will relize these quads are worthless and will not hold up to any seriouse ridding. As I said some of the bigger ones are OK at best but they are really not much of a bargen as far as price goes for a $1000 more you can get a major brand.

For a first time atver or even a kid do your self a favor and look at the smaller honda foremans and ranchers, you will thank yourself a few years down the road. In a few years that atv will be worth nothing!! But a honda will always be worth something!!!

Tell your buddy if he really wants to be a man he should buy a kawasaki bruteforce 750 :) or go hear and ask some questions

I have friends who ride Polaris/Yamaha/Honda ATVS and a couple purchased the no name atv for their kid for Christmas. First time out riding with the big boys there were trashed beyond repair. I would suggest getting a brand name ATV with some room to grow.

Re: Anyone own one of these 4 wheelers (BMS Motorsport)
Yes, like stated above, they are chinese built cheap rides....It would probably work for some period of time but no telling how long. I imagine you would be working on it within the first few rides.

I have had many different brands of ATV's and Honda's are THE MOST RELIABLE. I currently have a stable with Honda, yamaha and a Chinese built buggy(the biggest chinese brand). I had fuel delivery problems within 5 minutes of starting the brand new chinese buggy. I have worked it out and been ok since, but, expect trouble out of the chinese deal.

chinese built cheap rides....
 Don't waste your money. These are "throw away" vehicles. If you get couple years of use out of them, consider yourself lucky.

Re: Anyone own one of these 4 wheelers (BMS Motorsport)
A few years back, myself and my neighbor wanted to get our youngest kids a quad.

He went the cheap (chinese) route, and I stepped up to a name brand (to match my others).

Sure, I paid more for it, but the difference is that mine is still in use, and his has been collecting dust since a short time after he got it. His dealer dropped them after the Christmas (selling) season, since he had too many pissed off customers (he sold them on a no-return basis). Gee, I wonder why???

Buyer beware!

Re: Anyone own one of these 4 wheelers (BMS Motorsport)
dont waste your time, parts, and dealer service are hard to get on the cheapo's. Very tough to beat a Honda. We currently own two, a 1998 4x2 300, and a 2003 Rubicon, both have held up well. Personally, I much prefer the older one because of it's manual transmission, but that's just a personal preference. On the large size machines, the Yamaha Grizlie's are tough machines. I would look on the used market for a name brand machine way before I would consider a cheap one.

Re: Anyone own one of these 4 wheelers (BMS Motorsport)
I'm a beleiver in the major brands also. My first was a polaris sportsman 500, a nice machine, I wouldn't go bigger for a woman or teenager. Then I went to the utv's. My first was a polaris ranger 500, a machine I never had a problem with either. Yesterday I took delivery of a polaris ranger xp with a snowplow, It's a little more powerful machine. My experience has been with polaris, but I know a couple with a yamaha, one with a jd gator, a couple with mules, and one with a rhino. All like their machines, just like with boats, if you find a good mechanic/service facility, go with it.

Re: Anyone own one of these 4 wheelers (BMS Motorsport)
autobaun brings up the biggest downside to the Chinese models- parts. If you ride it enough any brand will break at some point. With the large outfits you are almost guaranteed access to parts and a decent supply chain. You may be able to get parts for the Chinese ATV for a few months, but how about several years down the road?

Re: Anyone own one of these 4 wheelers (BMS Motorsport)
Thank you for the help. I personally own a Honda rancher and have put it threw hell twice. I just sent him the link to this thread so he can see what everyone has to say.

Thanks again,
