Default Snow Shoe

has anyone been that can comment on the resort. I am an avid skiier, grew up in Norway, but do not do it that often anymore. My stepson loves to ski and I thought since I am in DC for a few years, we might be able to go. Thanks

CA as in California? Or CA as in Canada? Because in California the snow is known as Sierra cement, anything but dry.

As far as "good" East Coast skiing/snowboarding goes....Snowshoe is awesome. Maybe some better up north but Snowshoe tends to get ALOT of snow.

Ha, we get excellent powder day in CA
specially Kirkwood or mammoth, with base elevations at almost 8000ft!

It looks to be about 240 miles south west of my location. We are supposed to get some snow today or tonight.

I used to ski Kirkwood. It gets 3 days of dry powder a year, otherwise, wet and unresponsive Sierra cement. If you can ski Sierra cement, you can ski any snow, anywhere, anytime.

Also used to ride my bicycle up there in the summer. Great organized bike ride called Death Ride, did it a couple of times. Fun, but you will die.

Kingair - that's the best place to ski in the entire southeast/mid-Atlantic - by far. Don't even bother going to the places in NC and VA if you are a serious skier. Its not as good as VT/ME, or the western US, but it is worth the drive from NC. Most of the accomodations in the area are handled by the resort, so just try to snag the best deal you see on their website or newspaper ads. Let me know if/when you head up that way. I'd love to buy you a drink or lift ticket as a small token of thanks for your service.

Snow shoe is awesome, used to go there growing up in North Carolina...It beats NC slopes and best skiing around your area IMO...
