Kinda tossing around the idea of going to work there for a while.
Anyone have any experience with this? Pro, con, good, bad, etc.?
Thanks

Get a multiple entry visa before you go. You can get a one-time visa on arrival and there is no limit on how often you can get those but they are issued at the discretion of the immigration officer. This has never been a problem with my clients but during times of political tension the chances are better you might encounter "processing delays."

Good luck!

A coworker of mine's wife works there and she loves it, can't pry her out of there. When he is not stateside, he is there and likes it as well. Looks like decent fishing, but he says no hunting since the sheiks control all the land.

From the pictures he has sent it is beautiful, but I would think pretty expensive to live there.

Get a good CPA that specializes in expat tax law and you can pocket alot more of your earnings when tax time comes.

I go through there quite a bit. Not too bad. Alot to see and do. They have the good (great) areas and the crappy areas. The good areas are expensive. Nice place to visit though.

There are 7 Emirates that make up UAE. They are structured much like the U.S., in terms of having governments particular to each Emirate, and an overarching Federal government. The UAE is an example of how things can be done correctly in the region.

Dubai is a great place. The goal of the ruler of Dubai is to make it and the UAE an international business center, and he is succeeding. I do think that the radical extremist muslims will eventually say "WTF?!" and start blowing shit up. Many western companies have moved their operations to Dubai, because of the tax implications and the central location allowing for mobility to both hemispheres.

You are safer in Dubai than you are in New York; LA; Dallas; Tampa.

It is expensive to live there, so make sure your salary compensates for that.

Emirates is one of the premier airlines in the world, and you can fly them non-stop direct from all major airports in North America.

Take the job, get out of the U.S., and see some shit.
