Default Good fishing related Christmas present for under $150

I'm curious as to what you guys can think of. Looking for something that will last a while that I can give to my brother. Was thinking maybe a set of nice pliers (Van Staal's are a bit out of the budget, or I'd get them). Something nice, that if cared for (and not lost) will last years. Basically what I don't want to do is buy him $150 of terminal tackle that we both are going to blow through by the end of January.

Any thoughts?

Dang, are those pricey pliers. How about a good pair of sunglasses? Or maybe a Tilley hat......... http://www.tilley.com/detail.asp?productNo=T4IS

Better knots.

Not knowing the type of fishing makes it tough. A good gaff.

Some fishing shirts
some of those laminated cards that have rigging techniques and knots

And put the stuff in the gear bag
