Maybe you can find something worthwhile to embarrass outside the inlet.

I spanked an old Cig and a triple Midnight Express. I raced along side a sport boat that stores on a floating lift at the Hillsboro inlet. That was a dead even race.

Still trying to get the correct props on her. My rpms are short by 700

Scott,

Are you running stock wheels or are they Mercury labbed? Sounds like you need to try a few pitches lower if they're not lab finished (Mercury's lab props are awesome)...that 700 RPM is worth at least 4-5 mph on your setup I bet. I'm also curious to see if they mounted the motors high enough, but it's hard to doubt Reggie's rigging. Guy knows more about this than all of us combined. Can you tell us what props you are currently on right now and when you expect your 4 new wheels to arrive?

That triple engine Midnight is no match for me, let alone you. They're lucky to get low 60's. Very heavy and big boats! My friend has a 39 with triple 275s and sees high 50s out of it. What were the sea conditions? Looks like it was flat enough for you to open her up and do 85.

I have bravo 28 on it now, we just tried lightning Et 28s and it was hitting the rev limiter at 72. I'm going to call Fountain on Monday to see what we should try next.

You reaaly would think for the coin invested and hype that Fountain would have set your boat up with the right props to start with. You dont have enough hours on those motors to know if it's right or not. Who suggested Lightening ET's??????? That is a drag racing prop designed for lightweight single engine boats.

Stock Bravo 28's? Send them to Mercury and have their engineers lab them...should help a lot on the RPMs.

Banging the rev limiters at only 72 on another set of 28's is really weird when you're way under on 28p Bravos. You sure there's not a guardian activated on a motor?

Your old 34 had Bravos and I think they're a great prop for the Fountain. They use them on the 38s with triples as well. I'm just surprised Fountain let it leave the factory on props it's not nearing the rev limiters at. How many hours on your motors? I would get them broken in and loosened up and I bet you'll see more RPM. I'm just curious how much more speed you're seeing with the Bravos than the ET's, sounds almost like those ET's are cavitating for some reason. Perhaps a set of Hydromotives?

For some reason, my boat doesn't like the Bravos or Hydros, and I'm on Rev 4's, but they're not exactly a 'racing' propeller, they just run the boat very, very well and it's still fast.

I think either way you should be running a set of true lab props from Mercury and once those motors are broken in completely, a set of Mercury labbed Bravo 28's might be the ticket. Perhaps going up a hole on the motors as well, depending on where they're mounted. Remember, that's a lot of weight on the stern and they could be lowered than Fountain anticipated.

The bravos are labbed. I'm working with Fountain on this. They are the ones sending me different props.

The issue is that the larger lower units on the 350s are hurting performance. The hubs on the props are to small and are not flush with the housing

Gotcha. Thought on the build thread you said you saw 90, maybe I'm mistaken. Let's see what they come up with when they send you new propellers and how she performs. The great thing about the 300XS Optis are their light weight and smaller lower units than the Verados. I know on my boat the difference between 300 Verados and the XS's is about 5 mph on three motors. I'm sure we'll see a 350 XS pure bred race OptiMax somtime, at least I hope. It would be awesome if Fountain could offer this boat with the Mercury racing inboards and Alpha drives. That would be a fast fishing boat for sure. Good luck.

If the problem is the hubs on the props being too small why would they send you ET's that almost have no hub? The hub being smaller than the gearcase shouldnt be an issue at all at top speed. Lots of guys, includng me at one time, run small tube Trophy Plus props and they are extremely fast. They make a diffuser ring to fill in the gap so exhaust doesnt escape and cause excessive slip (which is what is happening with your ET's). Thats not the issue with the bravos though becasue you cant get enough rpm. You may need nosecones when they start making them for your lower unit. Or maybe the boat just isnt going to be as fast as the quad 300XS boat.

Sub, I thnk you mean bravo drives. Alphas are light duty.

Gotta get to bed now...going fishing in the AM and its going to be chilly.

Bravo drives. My mistake. Was thinking one thing and wrote the other. Good thinking on the exhaust escaping and causing slip on the ET's. I wana know the speed on the Bravo 28's so we can guesttimate speed on a better prop.

Demeanor, catch 'em up!

If you are 700rpm short (does that mean you get to 6100rpm) will coming down in pitch help. How would Rev4's perform on this boat?

Not exactly that 'race' propeller he's looking for, and I think you can only get them in 25p.

Copy that SubPrime.

I see this boat is now on the Fountain web site.
