Default Anyone else get laid off this week?

Lost my job as a regional manager for a commercial swimming pool management company.
Gotta love the economy I'm a little bummed out, but I will certainly enjoy the free time and I'm excited to do some fishing. No more 80-100 hour weeks in the spring!

Looking for work in or close to monmouth county NJ or traveling. I will got further if the money is right.

Right now I'm open to anything. I'm 31, I've got a degree, significant management experience. I've got marketing, plumbing and carpentry skills. I'm conditioned to working 80 hour weeks and working till the job is done.

Would be open to a job at sea or mating. I have few ties to land.

Resume and references available.

G- Sorry to hear. My gf lost her job a couple weeks ago. Sounds like with your experience, degree and work ethic, you will be alright but it may take some time. It stinks it happened slow close to the holidays. Hope everything works out for you.

As I said before, I am happy I am on ctive duty right now. I am sure recruitment will be no problem with the economy in the shape it is.

Actualy you might be one of the lucky first. As more and more people start getting let go the jobs are gonna be harder to come in this economy. We're expecting some restructuring here after the first of the year. Good luck.

Saw an article on msn about a miner in New York who was layed off but was offered a new job in Montanna. Three day drive out with everything he owned to stay with a friend. Got up drove two hours to his new job and put in a ten hour shift. When he got home he saw he had a voicemail letting him know they had to lay him off.

I hear recruitment is up quite a bit because of the economy, I believe Army is up over 40%. Heck for the signing bonus, benefits and experience, its an excellent oppurtunity for a lot of people.

Seriously, good luck in hooking up with a new job. Sorry to hear about this. It sounds like you have the personal drive and the tools to move on, especially if you can strike out w/o baggage/ties holding you back. You're young enough and smart enough, it sounds like, so keep your head up and hang in. Before you know it you'll be as busy as ever, even if you have to move. In the meantime, go fishing and put some meat on the table---tight lines and best wishes.

I'm still employed as of now, but the other cabinetmaker in the shop I work in was let go yesterday. I think it's a matter of time for me....

Best of luck to you and everyone out there.

Good luck you've got a lot going for you with your education and especially your age, lots of options for you. I feel for those in their 50's who have worked in the same declining industry all their lives and have to start over again. Enjoy your time off "This Too Will Pass."

Good luck.

I am in sales for a major CPG company, and we all got the "stay by your phone" voicemail on Thursday. I made it through, but others did not. It is a tough time out there, but if you stay focused and positive, you will land on your feet.

As for local news in my area JCB let go about 120 or so employees, and Great Dane trailers is closing at the first of the year. Going to be alot of people hunting for jobs as if there was not enough already.

Hang in there, man! Things will turn around soon. But keep your eyes open for new opportunities when they come available.
