Default Read it and weep

All of us are in a lot bigger mess than anyone in the government is letting on. We are totally screwed.

Look to where the "news report" is coming from. AFP.......a real "reliable" source.

Back to Bush again. Not the Dems who blocked all efforts to do anything about this problem. Even Bill Clinton himself said it was the Dems that continually blocked all Republican action to make some changes so the problems we face now wouldn't come to pass.

You wankers keep pointing fingers. It's the Dems fault. It's the Repub's fault.

I have teenage kids that point fingers like that.

It's OUR fault.

Demand better, be active about your demands, and you will get better results.

I think not.

Because they see me getting involved and expending time, energy, and money to be involved - so they will be too! I spent considerable time in DC over the past few months getting involved. I know not everyone has that opportunity or the resources to do that exactly, but they can at the local level.

Here's an example. My 18 year old is a freshman at TCD. He has joined both the Hist and the Phil. The Hist is the oldest society in the world.

Have a look at their programs. These are the kids we need to get involved. I just hope to hell when he comes back to the US he isn't demoralized by the crap going on here and rolls his sleeves up and gets stuck in!

There you go. When people see "our issue" as "someone else's" issue we can clearly see a big part of the problem.

Agree 100% !!!

I call it 'the Nintendo factor'; a measure of how much (or how little) entertainment and distraction it takes to keep someone from taking an active interest in their own well being. As long as folks can go home, turn on satellite TV, watch football, go fishing, whatever, they will 'trust' someone else to look after their security and overall well being. Only when the level of discomfort exceeds the threshold of what it take to 'play' will folks get interested. But in this case I think it is too late.

Now I don't completely agree with that. Don't we elect government officials in? Well isn't it their job to look out for us, the people that voted them in? Now I know what the slap in the back of the head is going to be, but isn't it their job to look out for us?

In a perfect world, maybe. But expecting someone else to look out for you and yours is wishfull thinking. We have to stay engaged and hold each other accountable.

In this modern rat race world it's hard for most to spend the time to "adequately" educate themselves on all the issues relavent to any election, be it local or national. MSM is all most rely on and we know where that leads. It used to be that you did "trust" your local elected officials to do the best for you in Washington, but politics has become such an "insiders shell game" that the "common man"has littlehope to truely CHANGE the government.
