Default Costa Del Mar help PLEASE!!!!!!!

Hey guys I am having a real bad problem with costa....
I bought a pair of their 580 green lenses sunglasses and less then a week after i bought them i saw a small crack in the top inside corner of the left lens... The crack was on the inside and i had not dropped the glasses even once... I sent them off after 7 weeks they said that they would have to charge me 100 bucks to get them fixed since i broke them.. anyways i got them down to 49 plus 10 for shipping.. whatever..
SOOOOO got them back on sat.. wore them fishing all day sat .. they layed in their case on sunday then on monday wore them while driving my truck... by the end of the day the same small crack on the inside corner now on the right lens appeared... I called costa very upset and they said to send them in and they will see...but it sounds like i am too rough on their sunglasses...

more on this story is that i called to check on them after 4 weeks the first time i shipped them off ( i shipped them off through my retailer) The woman was very rude.. and told me I sound like the kinda guy that wants something for free..... NOW IM VERY upset .. I told her nope im the kinda guy that spends 249.00 bucks on a pair of sunglasses and expects for the company to at least be nice and not let 4 weeks go without so much as any contact to the customer or reseller. All I wanted was to find out about my glasses......haha non the less she told me it was my fault that it was taking so long to repair my glasses since i went through my reseller... MY FAULT she said.. she said if i had sent them in through the internet service they provide ..things would go much faster.. ANYWAY.. I asked to speak to her manager.. I got a call back a few hours later. i told this same story to her manager and she said that she did not believe me and that its not her fault i dont know how business is done in this world... i then told her to send my glasses back and ill pay for repairs and never buy costas again... she said great .. and I quote... " we don't want or need your business and ill make sure i remark your acct so that we never help you again"

I went to my reseller and the best he could do was offer me a pair of MJ for half off... thats great and i may take him up on it .. but in the mean time im just ticked off ive spent 250 plus 60 for repairs and have worn these glasses about 7 times total... and they are going back in the mail tomorrow...

ANY IDEAS OR REMARKS ARE NEEDED... IF ANYONE HAS A CONTACT AT COSTA DEL MAR PLEASE HELP ME OUT..
ALSO IF ANYONE HAS HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THEM AND KNOWS THE BEST ROUTE TO GET SOME HELP THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ALL THE HELP GUYS!

JD,
Unfortunately those kind of horror stories with Costa Del Mar dont seem to be isolated cases. Maui Jims are very nice and are top notch. You might also try Ocean Waves they make a very nice sunglasses of top quality also. I have 3 pairs myself and my whole family has 10 to 12 pairs. Any repairs (which have been few) have been taken care of with a minimal or no cost... Good Luck

After getting the run around from CDM I've converted over to Maui Jim.

************This is a N.S. true story**************

I recently bought a pair of MJ's at Dogfish tackle in Pinellas Park. After a couple of weeks I noticed them on the floor in the living room. My little Dachshund decided that she need a chew toy. She chewed the tips off the ear pieces. I called MJ and they mailed two new ear pieces to my local optometrist for FREE. Not only did I not have to mail them my shades but they sent the parts for free. This was after I told them that my dog ate them.

So about 3 weeks later I see my shades on the floor AGAIN........with ear pieces chewed off. I call MJ, explain to them what happened and basically beg them to let me pay for some new ear pieces. They mailed me another set of ear pieces for FREE again.

So now CDM can kiss my arse. My wife is gonna need some new shades soon and she ain't getting another pair of CDMs.

While shopping for new shades I had 3 CDM retailers tell me that they have gotten too big for their britches and that their customer service has gone down hill.

If anyone wants a nice pair of CDM 580 lenses for their triple tails, let me know.

I never understood why anyone would pay the cost to send defective product back. Take it to the place of purchase and get the item replaced or refund the purchase price. Mail order is different, you have to send them back, but not to the manfr. By returning the product you create a situation where the retailer becomes responsible for the integrity of the product they sell, and they will, in turn, complain to CDM. You can bet CDM will listen when retailers start complaining, or dropping the CDM product line.

When a company ships defective product, they, not the consumer, should be responsible for the cost of returning the product for repair.

John, looks like you don't understand a joke. After all the CDM non-customer service issues that have been reported here, I felt a little humor about the glasses was in order.

BTW, I have never owned CDM's and my penis is ok.

Just buy Maui Jims and be done...

Maui Jim customer service/support is second to none. I have broken the same pair of glasses 4 times and every time I send them back and only pay for s/h. No questions asked. I have 5 pairs of MJ's and have broken all of them at least once. These lenses are far superior to any Costa lenses also. Costas are a status symbol anymore anyway.

I guess I am one of the few fans of CDM....I have sent glasses back to Costa that I broke(and admitted it to them)and they fixed them. Like the poster above, all I paid was S&H. They had a rash of problems with the rubber on the temples cracking and coming off....I sent 3 pairs of Fathoms back....again, fixed with no questions. I have worn MJ's & Oakley--good sunglasses, but I like the styling of the Costas and the way they fit me. No other sunglasses that I have tried are any better, IMO. BTW....every pair of Maui Jim's I had and looked at were considerably more expensive than the Costas I wear. Usually a status symbol has a higher price tag....
I guess I am the exception, but I have no beef with Costa Del Mar.

Just sent a pair of Costas back this week for warranty repair as the lens finish was wearing off. I've had a lot of different sunglasses and I've never had a problem like this.
I bought a pair of Maui Jim prescription glasses this week to replace them and will use the Costas as back-up. I hope the Maui Jim's are as good as everyone says- they ought to be for $450....

Pretty much sounds like my experience with CDM. Wish it were different, I liked the glasses.
