With full size SUV's collecting dust on dealer lots now, just how low are dealers willing to go? Are they being sold under invoice?

Don't know about new SUV, but I just bought a 2003 Ford expedition Eddie Bauer with 56,000 miles on it. Fully loaded and looks like new. Traded in my 1997 Ford Expedition with 128,000 miles on it, bought (used) it in 1997 My 1997 has served me well, I only used it to pull boat to the ramp and short trips around the house. They told me at the dealers they just wanted to get rid of all the SUV's they have on the lot. I told they I wanted to trade in mine, he said they won't give me much for it we don't want it. The blue book on the 2003 is $18,000.00 Excellent Cond. but he said the blue book is behind and they are really not worth that much now when I told him what the book had valued my trade-in. So of that made his less also. Bottom line is I bought his and left mine, I ended up paying $8,900.00 Walked away happy. I took the 2003 on a 600 mile trip just to make sure it was going to run alright because it has warranty of 2 months or 2 thousand miles. It ran fine everything worked like it should. Like I said only use it to pull boat to ramp, it's only 14 miles to the ramp from my house. It would take a lot of trips to the ramp to put 2 thousand miles on it.

Thought it was a good time to upgrade my weekend tow vehicle. Picked up a 04 2500 Suburban, 4x4, 6 liter, fully loaded for $13,500. Truck has 70K miles. Dealer gave me $6200 for my 02 Z71 with 150K miles, so I upgraded nicely for under $8,000.

Our local ads are showing $13,500 discount off of MSRP for '08 Expedition LE's (includes any rebates).

The Chevy guys are advertising $10,000 off if you pass on the 0% financing gimmick.

It's good to be a buyer...

Friend of mine has an 07 long wheel base, four door, 4wd duramax with 80k miles on it (all highway miles). Went to trade on something a little more economical and the best he could do in a trade was $20k. He paid $38K. Decided to bite the bullet and keep it.

LuckyLaRue ~ Enjoy your '03~!!! We bought ours new in '03 and will pay her off in August. Ours has 65.6K on it (warranty not up until 75K or August 5, 2008 - whichever comes first). Getting ready to head to Pensacola in a week. This thing is SWEEEEET for road trips! It's my everyday driver and I plan on keepin' it until the wheels fall off. Just can't ask for a better all-around family vehicle.

I really like it so far, as soon as I learn how to operate everything on it. I keep finding buttons and knobs I did not know about

Local dealer offered me invoice plus 7,000 in rebates. Basically I could get a fully loaded LTZ Tahoe which stickers for 53,000 for 41,000.
