Default Will quick crete chisel up fairly easy?

I was helping my neighbor put up a new basketball goal and we put the bottom piece in upside down. The male end is in the cement. It is 2 feet in the ground surrounded by cement. Any help?

Hit it with a sledgehammer and it should come off of the pipe. It helps if you can get the whole thing out of the ground first.

if you cant get it out of the ground first, borrow or rent a hammer drill with a breaking bit (either spade end or pointed end) and you should be able to break it ou fairly easily

Bull to coming out easy. go to a machine shop and have them make up an adapter to hook the rest of the pole to what is now sticking out of the concrete
It will be cheaper and easier than trying to get pipe out and the repouring concrete. I know these things from experiance!!!!

Do you have a tractor or any other piece of machinery that will give you a mechanical advantage?

Was the quick crete mixed correctly or just poured in the hole and watered in?

How good are you at digging?

How long has the quick crete set up?

If you can get the piece out the ground, probably a couple rapes with a sludge hammer will break the concrete away. However getting it out of the ground will include digging a very large hole if you have no tractor, come along, skip loader or a very large truck to pull it out. Lots of folks just dump the dry quick crete around the post and then water it in with a hose, if it was done that way, nudge it a few times and the crete will break right away. If the crete was done yesterday and it is still a little "green" it may break pretty easy also. Worse case is it was mixed correctly and it has been curring two or three days or more. Still if you can get it out the ground it will come off the post easily.

I would like to have seen the expression on your faces when you found this out
It had to be funny. Who saw it first and what did you say? If you can repeat it on here.

Only messing with you I like the sleeve idea.

That's definitely something I would do. any chance of ... if it don't fit, force it? Otherwise dig it up and break it off.

I hope y'all did get a good laugh out of it.

-Are you sure it is upside down? I think that it would be a strange, and potentially dangerous, arrangement to have a metal pole sticking up two feet out of the ground when the goal is removed. Mine goes several feet into the crete with a flush plate that the plate on the bottom of the goal post bolts to.

Thanks for all the help. First of all we did an excellent job of mixing the cement. I rented a saw and worked with that and a pick and a sledgehammer for about 30 minutes and said f this I'm starting to like woodon's idea of an adapter. Boys we planted this piece in the ground but good. The piece was surrounded by cement and had 6 inches of mix under the pole. I dug around it first with a shovel. I went to a welders shop and they recommended a muffler or heat and air shop. Of course my neighbor is ar work while I'm doing all the work today. Live and learn.

Well I got the "adapter" back today from the Welding shop. He put a sleeve inside the pipe that will slide down inside the pole in the cement. Only $20 bucks. Phase two starts tomorrow.
