So far, I have always gotten money back. I file early so Uncle Sam doesnt get to use my "interest free loan" any longer than neccessary. Also, by filing early it's not my fault when the government has to increase the National Debt to pay off the late filers.

Good luck every body!

A lot of people still have the first dollar they ever made.
Uncle Sam has all the others.

A man walks into a store followed by his ten-year-old son. His son is spinning a quarter in the air and catching it between his teeth. While walking through the store someone bumps into the boy and the coin goes straight into his mouth and lodges in his throat. He immediately starts choking and going blue in the face. His dad starts panicking and shouts and screams for help.
A middle-aged, fairly unnoticeable man in a gray suit is sitting at the snack bar in the store reading his newspaper and sipping a cup of coffee. At the sound of the commotion, he looks up, puts his coffee down, neatly folds his newspaper and places it on the counter. He gets up from his seat and makes his unhurried way towards the boy. When he reaches the boy, the man carefully takes hold of the boy's testicles and squeezes, gently but firmly.
After a few seconds the boy convulses violently and coughs up the quarter, which the man catches in his free hand. Releasing the boy, the man hands the coin to the father and walks back to his seat at the snack bar without saying a word.
As soon as the dad makes sure that his son is OK, he rushes over to the man and starts thanking him saying, "I've never seen anybody do anything like that before. It was fantastic! Are you a doctor?"
"Oh, good Heavens, no," the man replies, "I work for the Internal Revenue Service."

A man, called to testify at the IRS, asked his accountant for advice on what to wear. "Wear your shabbiest clothing. Let him think you are a pauper."
Then he asked his lawyer the same question, but got the opposite advice. "Do not let them intimidate you. Wear your most elegant suit and tie.
Confused, the man went to his rabbi, told him of the conflicting advice, and requested some resolution of the dilemma.
"Let me tell you a story," replied the rabbi. "A woman, about to be married, asked her mother what to wear on her wedding night. 'Wear a heavy, long, flannel nightgown that goes right up to your neck.' But when she asked her best friend, she got conflicting advice: 'Wear your most sexy negligee, with a V neck right down to your navel.
The man protested, "What does all this have to do with my problem with the IRS?"
"No matter what you wear, you are going to get screwed."

Wasn't there a tea party over taxes that were a fraction of what they are today?

Top 50% of income earners pay 96% of all taxes. Top 25% pay 84% of all taxes. Top 10% pay 65%.. Don't give me that crap about "my fair share"....

Let me know when the next one is and I'll be in line........ This sh*t is ridiculous in this country. If only everyone wouldn't pay them, let all the gov't programs go away, and everyman earn his own...

We need a constitutional amendment prohibiting the witholding of taxes.

Then everybody could write the quarterly estimate checks themselves and see what they are paying.

A textile mill in SC did that very thing about 25 years ago. The owner had a Brinks truck bring in cash. They set up a pay table and had the workers come by. If your gross pay was $1000 they handed you $1000. Then, they said you owe $186 Federal tax and they had to hand back that amount. Same for state and insurance. Having the money in hand and having to give it back, they nearly had a riot. Witholding tax numbs you to the amount.

I'm also a tax person. Getting ready to retire on May 31, had to extend our return (the cobbler has no shoes) due to lack of information about a partnership that my son was in charge of the books. Only problem is that we have an overpayment that the bloodsuckers will have for a bit longer. Building a new house in a different town so will have to make a bunch of trips up there to "supervise" the construction so fishing may have to take a back seat for a while. Spent 38 tax seasons getting to this time and hope to enjoy it fishing and traveling.

I've been saying that for years but we know its just a dream. If people had to save then sit down every 3 months and write a check to the IRS and then their State Taxes people would be in an up roar. Even though its the same amount that is taken out each week it just hurts that much more when you have to write and look at those checks your sending off.
