Default So how are we all doing - really?

Just got back from a week working in Miami. Off to Tucson for work next week, the following week was supposed to go to Dubai after doing a load of laundry, but backed out last week because I'm plain whooped and just didn't want to face the trip. Fall-out from that yet to come I'm sure.

Haven't taken the boat out in months, was going to last weekend but the weather turned. The boat is filthy, needs a good cleaning, deoxidization and wax. Brightwork needs done and the eisenglass.

Got home dinner time tonight to the news that a friend's (he work's for us) eldest was killed in Iraq yesterday. He was in a Stryker unit out of Hawaii. Tomorrow I'll find out when the services are and see if I need to change Tucson. Wife offered to go one my behalf, bless her, but not comfortable with that.

While I'm doing fine financially I get the sense that I'm doing more just to get and stay ahead and a lot of the time it's a bloody hard grind.

I don't see a lot of people having a lot of fun out there either. Maybe the same as me, head down, ploughing ahead, hoping that there's light at the end of the tunnel and a time to stop and smell the java somewhere down the pike.

Everyone seems to be in a holding pattern with their lives. No big decisions being made while all this shit sorts itself out.

Might improve when the weather steadies. Who knows.

So how is everyone doing, really?

Certainly a personal thing.

4 of my neighbors have their houses for sale to move to bigger houses., and 2 of then look to have children in the near future.

I'm not a "kid" kind of person, but that makes them happy, so I'd say they are doing as well anyone could ever do.

Certainly is.

It will be interesting to see how their demeanor may change if their houses don't sell or when buyers come in with low-ball offers!

Keep us updated!

Life is good. 4 kids in gradeschool, lovely wife of 13 years. I won't plot out my travel schedule because I don't wear it as a badge of honor like some....its just work and I hope by the time I am in my mid 40's I will have stopped hopping on the plane.

We need to add on a larger section to the house but are waiting a bit on that one. If we don't add on we will just sell the house and buy a bigger one. No worries here.

Sounds like you need to get on the water. Me too.

I've been working ridiculous hours the past 4 weeks and haven't had any fun but financially there are no complaints.

Well one of them has a contract on their house and their bigest problem is finding a NEW place to move. One of the others is renting so that isn't an issue, and another put their house up for sale yesterday (literally) and had someone look at it today.

Maybe my area is different, or maybe there is just a lot ofbaseless doom and gloom on here.

Things are doing good here. I have been working really hard in the last 9 months,I spent 6 months in California working while the wife was at home here on the east coast at her job. We are trying to make as much cash as we can while we can. The house and the boat are going to go up for sale in the next month and when every thing sells we will full time RV around the country hitting jobs and stashing more money. In the next 4 years we will have the house built in Belize and will be spending 6 months there and 6 months in the RV working. As far as my trade goes it is really BOOMING, If your a good pipe welder and dont mind traveling you can pick your job. So all in all we are great. O and if you want a great deal on a house and a cat boat set up for offshore for 275'000.00 let me know I will send pic of boat.

Life is good. Business has its highs and lows, pretty volatile markets right now, the lumber industry is dead in North America and western Europe. Just got back from Russia for business, made some great progress. My daughter has been living in London studying for a semester, and my wife son and I are flying over for a quick trip. My son is skiing Division I in college at University of New Hampshire next year, and is in the honors program in the Business school. Spring is finally here, and I got to take my 61' Triumph out for a spin this afternoon....I got to say though, its been a grind lately, a lot more stress...driving down to the summer house this weekend to get some projects done on the boat...

Couldn't be much better. Well, the price of fuel can certainly go down anytime it wants, but it doesn't stop us from doing what we want, when we want.

The family is all healthy and work is as busy as ever. No plans to move (been in this house for 9 years), so what goes on with the housing market doesn't affect us too much. Don't really care what the evening news has to say. Don't watch it anyway.

We lead a simple life...

Now that spring has sprung, we've already made four trips in the motorhome (one for a week), and have put on about 23 hours on the Sea Ray so far this year.

The weatherman says 80's for this w/e. We'll splash the boat this w/e for sure!

Moving slow on the replacement for the recently sold Scout. Pretty much down to the Grady, Davis or SteigerCraft.

Life is good!

haha Joe, appreciate it! although North American business is off, the eastern European markets are going crazy...financially I'm good. Just a lot of stress? Not really sure, I guess I have not stopped moving since November, between flying around with my son to his ski races, or in my office, or at the summer house going over construction, or a few quick business trips then the Russian trip. And my wife's dad just passed, and we fly to London, then my son has finals, and graduation...its just been a whirl wind. I need warm winds and a stiff drink on my dock!!!

closing down my fairly successful business; two business' based on the housing industry in one house isn't the smartest thing.

One of my close friends has a massive tumor on his pituitary gland, they started removal today and haven't heard yet. He is active duty and his future is up in the air.

Another close friend is have his back fused next week.

My wife broke her leg 3 weeks ago, 6 screws and what looks like part of an erector set in her leg. On a walker for the next few months. Wouldn't be so bad, but she is a real estate agent who, up until this, has been holding her own in this iffy market. I've gotten a crash course in waiting on someone hand and foot, shopping and domestic engineering duties. It is her right leg, so driving is going to be an issue. Oldest moved back home to help us get thru.

If my plate wasn't full already, I started college again two weeks ago, for some reason I decided to do part time, thankfully it is.

My mom wants to move into our house from halfway across the states; I really need to get a larger house to make this happen and it needs to be a large rancher for mobillity purposes. Trying to delay the inevitable for a few months.

I now have an unexpected truck payment I didn't plan on after one died.

the good news,
I start work on Monday, 3 weeks after planning to close the business, was actually offered a couple of different jobs. Instructor for watercraft engineers, 10 minute drive and home by 4pm. At least one steady income and it fits everyones schedule.
Youngest is maintaining honors and getting accepted to govenors school.
Just spent the afternoon servicing the boat today and it's ready to fish.
I still have a roof over my head.
that's just off the top of my head....I've actually got quite a bit to be thankful for.
I'm not able to fit in spring gobbler season this year, coming to terms with it and it is okay.

thanks for asking
.

Things are going very well here. $money invested wisely at 5.5 to 8 % no chance of downside. Long term thriple net lease on commercial property pays the bills. Second commercial building just leased for three years with a option to buy. New boat just arrived 2 weeks ago, and going up to our waterfront condo this weekend to give us a few days playing with the new toy. House is 2yrs old and no mortgages on anything. Love my wife and she loves me. But the best and most important thing is I'm cancer free after two years since prostate cancer. Five months since right kidney was removed due to cancerous tumor. Remaining kidney is doing the job and I'm back on my feet and feeling good. Just finished building a 1/12th scale dollhouse for my new grand daughters Chrismas Present. Spring is here. Life is Good. God is Great. God is Good and may he continue to bless us all.

the girl i have been talking to has been "to busy" to do anything and wont return my calls. Im bored OUT OF MY FREAKING SKULL, thankfully i have to go back to work in a few days. My truck is getting old, my boat needs 2 new lower units. I have to get a physical tomarrow. but things are going good at work i will get a fat raise as soon as my paperwork comes back from the CG, and i will get a lot more of my training book signed off. so i guess things could be worse, to bad i like this girl alot we have known each other for a while but she always seems to treat me like crap. oh well i guess im to dumb and should just ditch her.

I haven't made any money this year at all. But the bright side is, at least I haven't lost any like last year. I could go for a hundred or so years and not make any more money, but I couldn't go for many more losing money. Kids are healthy and on their own. Liquor cabinet is full, grass is cut, I could use a younger wife though, but I guess that falls in the category of losing money, so I'll leave that one alone. Other than having a business and landfill capable of turning millions of dollars a year rusting and growing grass, I'm ok.

I wish I could say the same for this country. It's gone to chit. North Georgia has really been hit hard by the housing bust and there are homes on top of homes setting empty both new and foreclosed. Sad, very sad. I would say at least 30% of the population up here that made any money at all made it in the housing industry around the area and it's really showing now. On top of that, everything has went up in price except wages so there you have it. If you are in the housing business or any related industry in North Georgia you are sucking wind.
