Default What's the best website to buy a new Vehicle (Chev or GMC)

Just spent two hours being jerked off at the GMC dealer here in Florida. My 04 Tahoe has 91k on her, needs another set of tires, $500 to redo seat cover, has a rattle that nobody can find (3 shots at it + my trying), it's ready for a major servce etc..... Soooo... This morning when I got the seat price,I figured, WTF? Maybe with some of the deep discounts they're giving I can just cut a deal on a new one... After walking around in the blazing hot sun for an hour, sitting by myself in a f'n cubical for another 1/2 hour+, I get the bottom-line-best we can do is $38,500 and mine on a $45k list truck... I don't think so.... I like buying used, but want the new style, so it looks like new this go round.

Any suggestions, I don't need to trade, I can sell and have cash...

When we bought our last vehicle, I spent a good bit of time on the Edmunds site. There may be some good info in their forums. If you go through the invoice process, you can send a request electronically to several local dealers. The dealers know you are doing the research so the pricing is pretty good. I also ran through the Costco Auto Buying Program and the prices were similar to the method using Edmunds. After getting that info, I purchased directly from a dealership where I had a business contact, using the other info so I knew I was being treated fairly. You will always be better off selling the old vehicle on your own. A friend has sold a few vehicles to Carmax for more than the dealer would allow on trade plus enough to more than offset any sales tax savings from trading.

I'd rather spend a few hundred extra not to go through the dealership experience. The last 2 were delivered to my house.

I was quoted a lease price of $669 for a 45K Tahoe, 15K miles per year, 3 year lease with $3,000 down. That's about $100 MORE per month than leasing my wife 53K X5 with no money down. I was shocked as the price was 43K after rebate....$669 a month....are you kidding me????

The Chevy/GMC websites are slow and will crash your computer. My buddy tried to use the GM website and it ate his whole hard drive and there was nothing McAffee, Norton or Microsoft could do. My father in laws boss had the same problem after using the Ford site and blew a CDROM Drive!

The Chrysler Website actually fixed my computer. Now it runs faster with Vista than it did with Windows 98 and the hard drive capacity has doubled and power consumption has been cut in half.

Try Dave Smith in Kellog, Idaho. People come from all over the country. GM and Dodge. Don't know the web site, but pretty sure you can Google him.

Car dealers in Florida are a rough bunch.

Afish... I bought my last two GM Vehicles new from Jim Tino, my next door neighbor, who owns Multi Chevrolet on Rt 22 in New Jersey. Call the dealership, Ask for Jim senior or junior, tell them I sent you, and they will do you right.

Man I just sounded like Gordon Gekko: "Buddy you cant come in her lookin' like that.... call Maury Sills tell him I sent you"

I'd second the Edmunds suggestion. When I bought my Tacoma (not a GM, obviously, but I imagine the process is the same), I requested a quote from a local dealer, received the quote, called for an appointment, and was leaving with my new truck in under an hour, including a fairly lengthy test drive. The price was exactly what I'd been quoted online...no attempts at a "changeup" once I arrived at the dealership. The price was $750 less than Edmund's "True Market Value" for the truck in my region and a few K under sticker.

I've gotten more than my share of crud as a woman buying a car without a man standing beside me. The experience was refreshing.

Although it is not GM, there is a Toyota dealer in Asheville that I read about in the Edmund's forums who posts "selling" prices online. From what I understand, the salesmen do not earn commissions and the price is the price. Around here dealing with the Toyota dealers is worse than the dentist without novacaine. JimBarkleyToyota "dot" com. I have not bought from them, but a client who lives in TN has talked to them about an '08 Sequioa and told me they were easy to deal with, they just did not have the model he wanted at the time.

If I buyfrom a dealer new, it'll be here in FL. 4WD is totally money pizzed away, I used it once on the last TWO Tahoes I owned. I pulled my buds 34 Venture out and used low range, probably didn't need to then either. I looked on ebay last night and there are a few 07 & 08's that are worth considering. May put this off until June when I am in Texas for a convention, quite a few there for sale. There was a 07 on there with 142,000 miles on it!
