This steroid thing is getting out of hand. Doesn't Congress have more important issues to contend with? I mean really, at this point if a guy tests positive, send him down the road and be done with it.

It's like Social Security chain emails. A lot of BS without much substance. However, people need to spend their time doing something.

No kidding, half the investigation is focused on stuff that wasn't against the rules at the time it supposedly happened....................so who gives a crap. Well, I guess I do, not about what anybody did, but mainly about the 20 MILLION that they have blown just to find out who had an unfair advantage at hitting a friggin fast ball.

I guess you guys don't realize if Americans become disillusioned with Baseball
the amount of money that will be lost ....the amount of jobs lost.... and the overall disgrace to Americas Pastime that would ripple thoughout the world....I'm glad they
are taking a strong approach and hopefully will rid the sportsworld of these "fake"
professional atheletes. Its time for our kids to see that cheaters do not win......and its time for Sports executives to see that if they turn the other way and ignore known cheats they will be caught too.Kepp it up until we have a clean sportsworld.

F baseball, football (except for UGA.. that is important), tennis, track (who gives a damn?). What about fiscal responsibility, disappearing manf. jobs and illegal immigration? Is it just me but I don't care about to gay folks getting married. Heck thats punishing love. Burn the flag? Not in front of me. That will take care of itself. Brain dead? Pull the plug. What about port security, health care for kids, get a grip on immigration? Guess I do not get it.
I am a dinosaur.

absulutely that all matters.....but if we build a foundation in the u.s. sportsworld starting with the little league on up that rewards cheaters our youth will have no values to stick to in the real world after sports. Thats the point.......our youth must be taught that "crime doesn't pay" and that cheating is not 'OK"......if our government doesn't follow through on this then there is no hope.

I get your point there, but 20 MILLION DOLLARS, of TAXPAYER MONEY, to find out that someone that is making millions per year is using performance enhancing drugs.................that is obsurd.Various cities (more taxpayer money) already foot the bill for some amazing facilities for these guys to play in, and their owners to make money off of. If it really needs investigating that bad, tell the owners to foot the bill or loose their facilities, split between the varoius teams of MLB, it would be less than a million each, they will spend that on a has been outfielder that rides the bench.

This stuff is the responsibillity of MLB or NFL. They are supposed to police the teams and the players. Just like AMA for Doctors or the BAR for Lawyers. It is not to be handled with our tax dollars. I agree that children need to be set a proper example but that is the job of the parent. No matter how much Congress tries you cannot regulate stupidity.

So now Congress is the moral police? Please. Barney Frank running a gay prostitution ring out of his congressional office, politicians with bribe money in their freezers, the president getting blow-jobs from his employees in his office...do I need to go further? It is certainly ironic that the Congress wants to play the moral police now.

In todays world, sports, not religion, is the opiate of the masses, alongside television. What better way to keep our collective eyes off the real ball than making a spectacle of the whole steroid issue? Heck, just instigating talk about why congress shouldn't be involved is a distraction unto itself.

I do find the whole issue of performance enhancing drugs rather distasteful. There is the element of the example being set for aspiring athletes. I don't think anyone would make the claim that there are no health risks associated with them. If only the top .00001% ever get into the major leagues, then NOT taking drugs when a significant number of your peers are taking them would be exceedingly difficult. It all but compels their usage, given the potential payoff.

The other problem I have with the whole situation is the denial by the players that they used them. It is a really obscene show of ego for them to try to maintain that it was only God-given talent and hard work that got them where they are. That’s what is going to do Clemens in.

There is a public policy role for the government to get involved here, but they are going about it the wrong way. It’s nothing more than grandstanding.

You've got that right. It's like having a fox watching the hen house.
