Default Bug Repellent

What Bug Repellent works best for you? Out fishing yesterday and the Gnats , "no-see ums" What we call them down south was eating us up. A friend told me to get a ThermaCELL Olive Appliance, See at this site:
http://hunting.about.com/gi/dynamic/...repellent.com/

Have any of you ever used one of these? And do they work?
Or what do you use?

Do you think it would work in my 17 CC Seahunt when I am fishing in the creeks for Reds and Trout? I use my trolling motor and go pretty slow. But since I am moving I did not know if it would work. Also I see they have them in different colors, and their model numbers are different. which one is best?

Don't laugh, if you laugh I ain't going to tell you!

Victoria's Secret-- Amber Romance skin lotion.

Smells to high heaven, and it has some sort of glitter in it so it looks funny too. But the gnats they don't like it. Works way better than Avon SSS.

Never used one them therma cell things.

I can hear my wife now, when I come home from fishing, what's that smell? and why do you have glitter on you.
I guess my answer could be," Oh! that smell is the scent from small bait fish I caught and the glitter is just the small scales they have"

But thank's for the tip The next time I'm in Victoria's Secret, I'm going to pick some up
I know you said don't laugh, but I'm still laughing. I don't doubt your word, but it just struck me as funny.

I have always used Avon Skin So Soft and it has worked like a charm. Now Off has a version of it called skintastic. Both work very well for me. I also hear about the Victoria's Secret stuff but haven't tried it. Heck, if Avon SSS works, why wouldn't you believe the Victorias' Secret stuff wouldn't work?

That SSS stuff don't work so well on the gnats we have here. It slows them down and keeps them off only if you have a very thick fresh coat of SSS on. the VS stuff works better.
