Default Towing a Dinghy

Not with the boat, but with our motorhome.

I'm thinking about buying a "dinghy" to tow behind the motorhome, and am looking at the Jeep Wrangler.

It'll tow fine without a dolly, since it will be a stick shift.

My question is this:

Will the odometer rack up miles while I am towing it?

Obviously, the engine will be off, the gear shift in neutral, and I believe the transfer case in neutral as well.

The salesman didn't know the answer.

Thanks!
