Default hybrid golf clubs

Does anybody have some more info or reviews/comments on hybrid golfclubs? I really have a hard time hitting low irons (2-4) and my woods are a pain to hit out of a tough situation. I demo-ed a cobra 3 hybrid a loved it. It is $150, so before I get it, I would love some feedback. Thanks!!

Hybrids are a heck of alot easier to get the ball airborne and land soft compaired to 2 & 3 irons. What kind of irons do you play...and what shaft is in your irons? Reason I ask is if you are used to offset (like ping or callaway, not including the x-tour irons) be sure you get your hybrids with offset. If used to a forged blade type iron, your choices are limited, but the Cobra Baffler "Pro" series is one you need to look at close. The Cobra comes two ways...regular & Pro series. Difference is offset, center of gravity and shaft selections.

You will find the Cobra will not have the hollow, tin can sound that some of the others have.

Try to get to a place that allows you to hit them outside. Let's see...Dunwoody...there's a PGA Superstore in Roswell. I know they will let you "demo" a club or two. Try them out.

After a 20+ year layoff from golf(Hunting, fishing, son in sports) I picked golf back up with my son after he finished all of his high school sports. I forgot how much fun golf was
and it has been the one thing my son and I do together(he is not much into hunting or fishing).

Naturally when I picked my old clubs up they were "out of date" and I went shopping with some help from one of my hunting partners that plays 3-4 times per week. I have a set of Callaway X18 irons
and Callaway driver but I also have one of the Callaway hybrids and I have also picked up a couple of the Nike CPR's and I am amazed at how well I can hit them.

Like a lot of people I would struggle some with the long irons and while I am getting better with them I can still count on the 2 hybrids I have in my bag.

You can do like I did and look on ebay and get some decent buys in used hybrids to see if you like them but they are great and I am seeing more and more players use them
now days.

Thanks for the help. Is the hybrid replacing your woods in your bag, or mainly just your long irons?

Depends on your set makeup & loft of the hybrid. I only carried two woods (Driver, 4 wood) anyway. The hybrid I got replaced the 4 wood & 2 iron and leaves room for the different wedges I carry. Nothing wrong with carrying a couple hybrids and have an iron set make up starting with a 5 iron.

Driver
16 degree hybrid
20 degree hybrid
24 degree hybrid
5 iron
6 iron
7 iron
8 iron
9 iron
PW
Gap Wedge
Sand Wedge
Lob Wedge
Putter

There you have it. Wedges are going to SAVE you more shots than your ego and 3 wood are going to cost you.

I still carry the driver and can hit it pretty well, AT TIMES . I also carry a 3 wood which I use when the driver is too much.
As for my irons I do not carry anything below 4 iron, I use an 18,22 and a 26 degree and these pretty much fill my bag.

I will from time to time need to borrow my sons 2 or 3 iron when I get in some woods and need to hit a low shot to come out of the tree, pretty good at that but I guess it is because I get sooooo much practice at it.

PGA Superstore. try the Bobby Jones 21deg. Hybrid. It made a hugh difference in my game. They will let you demo the club. Most forgiving club I've ever hit.
