Default Buisness RANT

I needed work done to my t-top. It needs a new cloth top as well as some welding work done to it. Well the guy I am using wanted me to keep the top on the boat as he did not want me to go to the trouble of taking it off. Well I took it off to help him out. So he would not have to climb in and out of the boat or have to worry about burning the fiberglass while welding. Anyway he says bring it to me Monday the 5th. I just call him to see if I can pick it up this evening. Yeah, you guessed it. He hasn't touched it. Something about aluminum tubing being on back order. 1" tubing mind you. Probably the most popular size of tubing out there. I don't know. Anyway, why must every business tell you one thing and not deliver? Or at least call to let you know what is going on when there is a problem. That is one of my biggest gripes with dealing with vendors, they never deliver what they promise. D a m n, how can you stay in business if you cant figure out what the hell is going on. I have spent close to $25,000.00 with this guy in the last few years doing other projects as well...This will be the last project he gets from me. That's what competitors are for...

Doesn't sound like he wants your business anymore.

to not be able to do it in that quick of a timeframe IMO is not a problem, unless they know up front that you are in a time crunch and promiss that they can meet your schedule. That said, telling someone that something will be done by a certain time leaves the expectation in that persons mind of that being the actual schedule, any variation should be communicated with the customer asap.

I run my own business, and take pretty good care of the people who take care of me. $25K may seem like a lot to you, but what are his costs? If you're this unhappy it's time to move on.
