Default Confession Time

Was travelling on business Mon-Thurs. Flew back yesterday afternoon for my daughter's basketball playoff final (they won) and then had to get up at 5am to catch a 7am flight to Tampa, did a one hour presentation, then back on the afternoon flight.

Finally got a chance to sit in front of the TV this evening. Pushed the On Demand button. Didn't want to pay for a movie because there was a very good chance I would fall asleep half way through. Looked at the freebies.
Saw On Golden Pond. 1981. Never did see it. Probably because it was a chick flick and I couldn't be bothered. Thought what the hell. I'm whooped and what harm could it do. Grabbed me and the missus a glass of red and watched it.

Damned good flick, 26 year old movie and I have to say I thought Henry Fonda deserved the Oscar he won for his part. Simply awesome acting. Incredible that he never won an Oscar until then - even with 12 Angry Men, How The West Was Won, The Longest Day and My Darling Clementine.

If you never watched it first time around, I recommend you score some easy brownie points with the missus and sit and watch this one. You won't be disappointed.

Nah, never seen it, and won't. It's a definite chick flick, and I'm surprised you are admitting public that you watched it.

Actually, there is almost nothing coming out of Hollywood that is worth the time to watch. It's all the same movie made over and over and over with new faces.

I'm going to head on over to the next town and try to catch a screening of 'Sukiyaki Western' this weekend. It's a remake of the classic spaghetti western, Django, but with a twist. The twist is that the western is filmed in Japan with Japanese actors...speaking English. In real life these folks do not know English so they learned to say their lines phonically. Should be interesting...the Yakuza come to town on horses with six-shooters. Now that's a movie worth seeing!

You are right, it is an outstanding movie and that boat is sweet. Even though Jane Fonda IMO is as low as scum can get, she is a good actress and her father is one of the best ever.

Yep, that Chris Craft woodie is a nice boat - hope they really didn't.... never mind, don't want to spoil it!

BTW, my wife pointed out that JF was in her mid to late 40s when that was shot - she looked pretty damned buff in those bikini shots!

Skip "terms of endearment " and watch "Fried Green Tomatos" instead.
