Default Drive ins. from Progressive SUKS!!!

......anyone have any input on the subject?

Got cut off by none other that ONE of the MILLION senior citizens who SHOULD not be on the road to begin with, last week. I crashed into his rear passenger bumper quarter, when he changed lanes from beside me, to in front on me, then slammed on his brakes to make a turn with no blinker and no time to stop.

My new 05 Ford F250 lariat diesel pick up, took a decent fender bender, and busted drivers side head light etc...

The worse part is PROGRESSIVE, has been a nightmare to deal with. I have a $1000 deductible, and they are only giving me $748!!!! for the damage estimated by 3 diff body shops at over $3,000!!!.....PROGRESSIVES reasons for screwing me is bc they wont pay for original parts, and basically are only paying for after market parts and only paying for certain things ONLY???

I've never had these issues with my previous ins. and only just recently bought this policy over the phone with an agent.

Bottom line is I should only be coming out of my pocket technically for $1000, but NOW bc of PROGRESSIVE's nickel & dime bull sh*t, I have to pay $2,250!!!!!! and there customer sevice dept. just blantanly does not give 2 sh*ts and they let you know it!

my friend works for progressive and and he has told me they only use new quality parts, granted they may not be factory. He did however say that if you use a qualified shop which gives progressive a discount for work on there covered vehicles. They are responsible for the difference in the cost for fixing and what they told you it would cost.

you should be able to go to any shop you want. the preliminary estimate is almost always too low as the insurance company knows a certain percentage of people will just cash out so they save millions by lowballing every estimate. when you get the vehicle to the shop of your choice they should be able to submit a supplement for the difference. when the claims office talks to you they try to scare you into taking the vehicle to one of their preferred shops were they get discounts by saying things like you will be responsible for any excessive charges your shop bills out. dont go for it, find a shop that sees you as the customer and works for you as opposed to a shop that is dependent on the insurance company for large volumes of work and sees them as the primary customer.

Yep
It's starting for me this morning. Progressive call's and say truck will be fixed in 2 wk's and the Est is $3200. $3200 I say,HUMM. Read off what your fixing. When he's done I tell him it's a good start but here's what you forgot.
Frame is bent and buckled bad!!!
Rear end is locked up from impact(shifted 7 inch to the left.)
Drive shaft bent
Bead lock rim crushed
Tire busted
Bumper bent
Bed bent
Pro Com suspension lift kit is wiped out.
Shocks are broke
When I ask was he aware of this he said no and felt it was best left to people with body exp. When I said I have been around a body shop all my life he started stuttering. Going to take photos now.

With someone else driving of course

Also make sure you get paid for lost value! Your truck is now worth thousands less due to it being in an accident. Get an appraisal from the dealer where you bought it. They should give you a value for a truck with no accident history and one with an accident history. Especially if you have a bent frame! Good luck and don't let them bully you. I think it is up to you whether or not to use factory (oem) parts.

Just went through a windshield replacement on my wife's Lexus. State Farm wanted to replace with aftermarket glass, I said we did not insure an aftermarket windshield we insured a Lexus windshield, they replaced with a Lexus windshield. As mentioned above they will try to weasel everything out of the consumer they can. Good luck and be strong!

If you got cut off, why is your insurance paying for this? Did the other driver get a ticket?

If it was your fault and your insurance is paying, you will only owe your dedictible, plus any "betterment."

Take it to a shop that is not a Progressive shop. If the parts don't fit (they probably won't) Progressive must pay to have it completed properly. That means even if they have been painted and intalled, if the gaps are not correct, they are required to perform a repair that meets industry standards and is subtantially equal to the pre-crash condition.

Call your state insurance bureau and submit a complaint. Let your adjust know you are going to do this.

Look up your insurance statutes that pertain to the repairs and read your policy. It does not matter what an adjuster or insurance company says, it matters what the law requires them to do.

No one was issued a ticket, but I hit him so I guess im at fault ...unbelievable!

signmansez....Id be REAL surprised if I could collect for lost value.....what about lost wages? my "business" truck will be in the shop for 4 days with this repair.....

Trollme, ask them for a copy of that estimate, and then your gonna really laugh! most of the parts listed are not OEM, but rather re-man parts! its a joke!, they were going to buy pin stripe from like Pep Boys or something to put on my truck! My AB guy was laughing out loud!

I told the Ins company that this is a 50k truck! and it better be back to the way it was b4 the accident, he told me that if its more than 2yrs old, they have it in the policy that they can substitute re manufactured parts....its ALL BS!

You are not going to get diminished value if you are the insured. If you are the claimant (i.e. you get paid by the other driver's insurance) you are entitled to a comparable rental vehicle and diminished value, plus no deductible will be paid.

If at all possible, submit a claim with the other insurance company. Your neck is probably getting stiff from the accident as well.

I'd rather have used parts like a fender, than aftermarket. Nothing wrong with a clean junk yard fender or hood. They will fit, AM parts won't . AM headlights and bumpers are ok. I'd be sure the shop is getting paid to do a full blend. If not, it won't match.

The bumper is crushed, along with the DS fender, the wont even pay for the bumper bracket which is also bent, bc "they cant see that its bent" and "until they see that its bent, they wont pre pay for it". So while the work is going on, my BS has to take the bumper off, then WAIT for them to re inspect, and take a picture of the bent bracket, (that we already new was bent), and they they have to submit a "supplemental bill for it" for them to pay! Same thing with the alignment, which is way out bc the bumper hit the wheel (33" Nitto grapplers OR tires), they wont pay for the alignment (so far) bc I cant prove it happened in the accident!! This company is F'd up big time!

PS my BS told me the AM headlights are bad too...said they wont look like the other OEM light....

I have a friend who owns two high end body shops. He will not work on a car Progressive insures. Sometimes a low premium is not the best deal. I cringe when people insure their boats with them.
