Johnny Cash anyone?

currently watching a Johnny Cash special on Ovation, (and I thought it was a lesbian network) Anyone else into Cash, I don't listen to much country, but Cash is amazing.

Tommy-- The movie is fantastic-- I own a copy- this is cool because its all sorts of "never beforre seen" footage. The opened the show with Cash bird hunting---its cool stuff. too bad about the commercials.

Yep, Cash is the best!  Some of the recordings he put out later in his life were just as good as his earlier stuff.

JC was the real deal, very few like that anymore. Some of my favorite CDs with him are the Highwaymen series (Waylon, Willie, Cash, & Chris)

Definate  on the Highwaymen series. They were the Ratpack of Country music, and JC was the Sinatra.
Thank God for XM radio. they still have stations that play the good stuff.

Re: Johnny Cash anyone?

The movie got me into Cash. Now, my 8 and 5 year old know all the words to Ring of Fire and Folsom Prison Blues. The 3 year old is partial to Walk the Line.

PBS had a pledge drive special where they showed some segments from his variety show in the late 60s early 70s. What a line up he had on over the years.

Derek and the Dominos and Carl Perkins on the same show -- encore with Perkins, Clapton and Cash,
Hank Jr pre-accident,
Waylon Jennings,
young Tammy Wynette,
Ray Charles

Unreal.

If I ever have a son I'm gonna name him Bill, or George, or anything but Sue! I still hate that name!

I'm sure everyone has their favorite JC songs, but here is a little something that some of you probably have not heard. I play it every 4th of July on my outdoor speakers cranked up high, and it still brings tears to my eyes every damn time.

Hi Mark
Thanks for that! I'm struggling to get through "Mine Is Bigger" (david kaplan) right now, first book I've bought in a few years, its about the s/y Maltese Falcon-- Today was really something else here in Camden wasn't it? I started my day by riding across the bay in a Tiara 38 to pick up an MJM 34z from Orcutt Harbor (next to Bucks Harbor) and ended it with my final run in the Grady tonight--out through Gilkey Harbor, hauling her this week sometime. Let me know when you want to hit the town, my girlfriend is leaving next week for 3 weeks or so as chef on an 80' sailboat from NYC to Bermuda to St. Martin, to Antigua...and I thought I had it good.

My Turn-- That is a great Cash song!!

Cgrrand- good point.

"The boy named Sue" by the Great Shel Silverstein. Yea, the same guy who did the cartoons for Playboy and the childrens books.
