Default Hate To Say I Told Ya So But.....Apple Stock At $153.00 Today

Oh Happy Day. Watch Apple stock go up, up, up.

http://www.brightcove.tv/title.jsp?title=741891990 About Vista just to needle the opposition.

Not so happy day yesterday when Doc said a slight chance my prostate cancer might have spread a bit outside the prostate. So now I go back on hormone therapy which has the side effect of dropping your sex drive to zero. Makes my wife of 37 years very happy to get a rest.

The once every four months hormone shots cost $2,700.00 each (last four months). Plus I take a new pill every day with a cost of $15.00 each pill.

Ray-

Hope all is well and things are OK.

My accounts are a few days from being funded and I have been doing my homework. AAPL, RIMM, CROX, UA are on fire. GOOG is as well but at $560 it's hard to gain a decent position.

SeaNile, Yep, hard to buy much of a stock that sells for over $500.00 a share.

Im hoping Apple stock will split three to one soon, so more little people can buy the stock.

I note that Apple Stock is up 40 cents in after hours trading.

Ray-

First and foremost, good luck with your health issues.

And I saw the news today that talked about a jump in Apple stocks--I'll be the first to admit I never thought it would go this high; I guess that is why I still have to go to work everyday (and max out my 401k and pretty much leave my investing at that).

I still don't know why it has jumped the amount and the rate it has; I just don't see the value in the stock. What is their dividend payout? P/E ratio? (I haven't looked) I would have thought by this point in time--a decade+ past the internet explosion, that America wouldn't need a dumbed down computer interface to surf the web and download pr0n--I guess I was wrong. The Iphone sales issues and Steve Jobs seemingly endless SEC issues would scare me away from it by itself. That, and knowing they basically bet the farm on each new product. They have gone against any high volume product for businesses. To my bonedheaded way of thinking, that makes them a pretty much consumer only product, which makes them a 'luxury' product--and not needed when times are tougher.

But Apple stock going to $500 wouldn't make me like, or use their products any better.

You better sell, sell, sell, christmas is not going to live up to it's previous expectations. The giddiness in tech amazes me. I guess they haven't figured out that the home ATM is just about out of money to buy the $1500 laptops. Time for a reality check.

It has nothing to do with the CPU sales...it is mostly driven from iTunes / iPod slaes. Look at how they are revolutionizing the music & video markets. This is where the $$$$ are from.

I do know this...the Apple store locally last Sunday: I went in to buy a jawbone for my phone. Speaking with the girl at the counter once I finally got there, I asked how many of these people are buying compaired to looking... So far, for the day, they had sold 287 ipod and 57 computers. BTW, it was Sunday...they opened at noon... it was 3:00pm. What are the Microsoft stores selling????? (oh, there aren't any).

Apple better milk that music sales for all it's worth. The music industry is dead--just noone has told them yet. When was the last time you just had to have a CD (or paid to have a complete collection of off one?) I guess the better question is--Can Britney Spears and Kanye West save the music sales? I think we all know the answer to that.

Hey, I'm no Microsoft zealot. They have their fair share of crap too, and if anyone would make a better product with a better business model, it would outsell them. Their licensing alone is a nightmare. But apparently, no one has yet.

A company I'm familiar with with had to do a "true up" with Microsoft over licensing last year to the tune of almost $400K. That's on about ~2500 users, and in addition to what had already been spent on licensing. And that was just on workstation Office products and about 60-70 server licenses.

With over $55 million in PROFIT (not sales) PER DAY at Microsoft, I doubt the US government would allow them to sell hardware and make it proprietary to their software like Apple does. It would be like GM, Toyota, and Ford joining together and selling cars that ran on only gas they sold.

But again, what do I know. I won't be getting rich from their stock. I don't even own an Ipod or an Iphone or any Iproduct (Help! I'm not cool!), and have never bought any music from Itunes (although my wife has...but not in a long time).

Joe...you hit the nail on the head..."When was the last time you just had to have a CD (or paid to have a complete collection of off one?)"... That's the beauty of iTunes...just buy what you want. a single, few songs, or the whole crappy CD and it's legal...and the artist gets paid!

There must be something to it since almost every new receiver has an iPod dock ... and the auto industry is doing the same.

Reports show 4/5 MP3 players purchased are Ipods, like 2005 SeaCraft noticed...take a look at the Apple stores, they are always packed!! It kind of reminds me of the way Buffett (Warren, not Jimmy) once described how to pick stocks, go with what you know, go to a local mall, pay attention to the bags the people are carrying around, etc. I'm not an expert by anymeans and barely a novice but it seems that The Street will pay for growth and Apple has it!

Speaking of looking around....I can't believe how many people have Crox....and whatelse really surprised me is the age span of people wearing UnderArmour.

What do I know but it seems that AAPL, CROX and UA might be going into my portfolio.

Good luck with your health, Ray. FOSL looks promising. 5 years though. Too bad I only had $12k spend at the time. The rest stays in no-risk. (20% of $60K).

OK, Ray. Best of luck to you.

If you have a scrolling mouse, try this:

roll the scroll wheel while pressing the CONTROL key (or 2-finger scroll on a laptop)
