Default Computer Spyware Crap!!!!

I screwed around and let my spyware zapper expire, and now my computer is full of crap!

I renewed my subscription to Webroot this morning as my computer was so full of crap it wouldn't even work. It just kept displaying this junk about pressing yes to get a "cleaning". Yeah, nobody is taking this ole' boy to the cleaners on that crap!

I ran a sweep and found over 100 spy programs including one called "Absolute Keylogger" which pegged the threat meter on my anti-spy stuff. I zapped all the junk that showed up, but even now I keep getting these damm pop-ups for more anti-spyware protection!!!

Some of it looks to be legit Windows stuff, but who knows? Can anybody tell me how to get my computer back to normal other than removing it's operator?

I'd download the free versions of both Spybot and Ad-Aware. Sometimes these programs catch stuff that other ones doesn't.

dont forget to shut off system restore!

press start then go to my computer and right click on the menu that pops up disable system restore...

restart....

then before you get to the windows xp screen hit F8 a menu will appear with choices choose to go into safe mode.. just choose safe mode...
if windows loads you missed the time to press F8 try again its usally when the screen is black right before the loading logo

then run your spy remover software...

if you know about computers, i would suggest a program called hackthis! (dont use unless you know what you are doing)
the icon looks like a stick of dynamite..
save a logfile and run
and click off stuff you know you didnt install. but make sure your not deleting anything normal

We are in the computer biz and see this all the time. We use one tool called TrojanRemover. It is not free but not expensive and will A-Bomb all the crud from the system. It is so evasive it even crashes windows temporarily. Has worked flawlessly over 50 times now...$29. http://www.simplysup.com/tremover/details.htm

I am in no way affiliated with Simply Super Software

Hate to say it, but it's your own damned fault.

That stuff doesn't install itself--no matter what anyone says--you have to initiate it or allow it.

Hate to say it but you are wrong. I had a bunch of crap in my computer I never initiated or allowed. It cookied its way in and then semed to grow and multiply. Ad-Aware and SpyBot and Crap Cleaner. Best ones I've found.

Actually, I'm not.

Do you allow cookies?
Do you allow popups?
Do you allow unsigned active-x controls?
Do you allow *any* active-x controls?
Do you open attachments in your email?
Do you have scripting enabled?

Have you configured IE to correctly handle the above and other security issues?

AdAware will get rid of your problems; configure IE correctly and you won't have them to begin with.
