Is falling. Dow down almost 400. Stay away from ledges....of course some of you lucky S.O.B.s are holding Apple..which for some reason is climbing today...

it's taking quite the beating today. Thankfully the only stock I own as Apple. I used to be real big on the market. After i lost a ton of Money on Nortel a few years ago with the bookekeeping scandal i said screw it and cashed out. I am glad I don't have to worry about days like today

I bought stocks today on the way down. Should have waited just a little longer, maybe.

Waiting for more of a bottom, before moving in. I've been out all summer anticipating a bubble that never happened, or at least not in the usual way. Two much see saw in the day to day activity. Must be a lot of repositioning going on.

I wouldn't jump in quite yet. After the big builders bankrupt, and a few banks get bought up or bailed out by the gov, it's time to buy.

I hate to see my 401k do anything but go up, but last 1/4 it made 10%--I can't expect that every 1/4.

I won't be getting into it for 30 years or so anyway.

Talked to my broker a few days ago...he warned, based on history, that the market would correct 5% as it has typically done in the past.

5 % is 700 points

Guess we're halfway there....

I only hold Apple right now because I still think that bubble will happen eventually. I bought more of it while it was down. Smart move.

What I have learned in all my years...

Selling into a falling market always costs you money.
Doubling up will almost always be good for you.
You don't lose anything until you sell.
No tree grows to the sky.

Plus, I'm 75% in fixed income. But, I'm also 69 years old.
Don't ask me for advice; I'm just as ignorant as you are, even though I spent almost 40 years working on Wall Street.

And my BEST advice? Just don't watch CNBC in a falling market.

True.
You need a little of both, I think.

Pharm - defensive stocks. They have been laggards, now let's see if they start moving.
