Default Vizio HD LCD TV?

From Costco GV47L--anybody got one?

http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11195976&whse=BC&Ne=4000000&eC at=BC|79|2341|3316&N=4001382&Mo=26&No=5&Nr=P_Catal ogName:BC&cat=3316&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang= en-US&Sp=C&hierPath=79*2341*3316*&topnav=

I'm not a "mediaphile", but have checked some of the HD TV forums. Some folks are talking about issues with some of these--something called "banding"? I dunno--I looked at one today and thought it had a pretty good picture. Seems like a lot of those folks are about TV's like some on here are about boats--overly critical. Would I even see this problem, if it existed?

I have pretty much settled on LCD; even I could see a difference between the plasma, DLP and teh brightness of the LCD.

VERY mixed reviews on amazon and epinions.

Seems like they've got sound quality issues.

And I can't believe costco doesn't off the low cost untreated pine box casket.

I'd take the pine box! For my dirt nap, I won't care what I'm in. Save the cash family! Buy the good beer tonight

We have a Vizio plasma set and it's awesome. Much cheaper than anything else we looked at. The major complaint I've seen from others is a lack of inputs for gaming. I'm not a gamer, so that doesn't matter to me.

I have a 32" Vizio from Costco and love it. No issues since new (7 months) and it does have gaming inputs, at least my WII works with it.

Have a 37", the only issue I have is I haven't found a code that works with a universal control and my cable controler. I run my sound through my receiver so don't know how the sound on the T.V. is

We have a vizio 50" plasma and we have been very very happy thus far (nearly a year) We had a smaller LCD some time back that we weren't all that impressed with. Sorry I can't be of help regarding the vizio lcd but the plasma has been great.

There you go. I think i'd disregard the Epinions and Amazon reviews and go with the ones you got here.

i have a 37" vizio lcd and have had no problems. very good pic quality. i have friends and family with 4 vizios and none of them have had problems either...two of those sets are almost 2 years old.

vizio's may not quite have sony picture quality, but for nearly half the price i'll deal with it.

cnet.com gave it a decent editor review. and the user reviews are even better: http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-a...tml?tag=uoavrg

I had credit card in hand and was off to purchase a new Vizio LCD TV. I went to the local big box retailer who had just picked up the Vizio line. When I entered the store I could see about 40 LCD TVs mounted on a distant wall. All looked about the same from about 100' away except 2 that kept loosing their picture. The display was brand new and all the TVs were hooked to a state of the art cable bus. The two that were having problems were the only two Vizio's in the store. Needless to say, I skipped the Vizio and spent the extra money on another brand. I'm sure many Vizio owners love their sets but my unscientific observations convinced to but another brand. Good luck with your purchase.

I think I'm in for the Vizio this afternoon. I have 90 days to return it if I don't like it.

www.cnet.com takes a ton of guesswork out of anything electronic....they love the 65" Vizio plasma for $2,500

Ah, the old bait and switch. That scenario can easily be set up to swing buyers to a more expensive line. Bought the top of the line, Sanyo 4 years ago, now shot. Have been researching Vizio for a month and am leaning toward that brand. Not to mention the fact that Sony has a big name but their customer service sucks.

One thing I forgot to mention. When my better half and I were in the store, we did see some sets that had what appeared to be slightly better picture quality, however, the prices were significantly higher. A patient I had cared for in the ED worked for a large retailer and told me about techniques some retailers use to enhance the picture quality on products with a better profit margin. I almost went for one of the more expensive sets but remembered his advice. His feeling was that once the Vizio was in my home with no "distracting" televisions for comparison that we would love the picture....he was right.

I agree with others that CNET.com is a great resource. Good luck.

He was correct
