Default Rant About Cingular & Motorola Razors

I just had the second one crap out on me in the last six months with all my phone numbers I need while I'm out of town!

Cingular, or ATT or whoever the hell it is this week said they'd replace it, again, but it would take a few days. Last time I tried that it took almost two weeks! This after I just bought another one for about $450 with the promise they would refund my money within 30 days. The local company store refused to refund my money, and I ended up having to take the thing back to Floriduh where it crapped out on me the first time.

The same store I went to last time in Bradenton suggested I go to Wal-Mart and buy an $18 phone which would accept my SIM card so that's what I did.

Anybody else having these problems with their Razor? I hate to get another one, but I'd have to renew my contract with Cingular if I get something else, and I had much better service with Verizon. What do you think?

I had Cellular One which became Cingular for years with no problems, this goes back to a built in Motorola unit in the car. Then I had Ericcison phones with them OK and then I bought the best Motorola they had before the Razor and it was junk. I took it back once for a "firmware Update" and it was still junk. I went to Verizon and a LG phone for about 3 years now and never a problem.

BTW - I also bought 3rd party software and have my phone numbers on the PC as a backup, could reload to a new phone.

Good luck

My cheapie $18 Wal-Mart Motorola works okay and I was able to use my SIM card from the Razor. I did lose some numbers which were saved to the phone though and there's no doubt I will lose some pictures I had saved.

Once I get back home, I'll get Cingular to send me another Razor as it is still under warranty. I just needed something right now. It makes you wonder what good these company stores are for anything other than signing up for new service or buying a new phone. The dang sure won't swap anything out with you after 30 days.

You got that right!

I had a Pansonic bag phone which never caused me a minute's problem. It's all this newfangled technology that causes us old farts all these dang problems! And they say size doesn't matter!

My Razor has been great until I hosed the boat down and soaked it, then it had issues for a couple days until it dryed out. Everytime I made a call it would squeal like crazy, but it's fine now.

I'm on a new phone every 2 years and have about 9 months till it's replaced with no complaints. I like the profile when clipped on my belt. Its thin profile and ability to spin 90 degrees does not allow it to catch on anything, whereas previous phones were plucked from my belt (or holster) or the "hot buttons" on the side would activate from my seat belt touching it changing the mode..... Oh, and it's been dropped countless times.

I've had Nokia and LG in the past and when the contract comes up, I'll get the phone that has the options that work best for me with the form factor that fits like the Razor, and it may be another Razor if they keep pace with technology and the industry.

My jet ski got drunk last summer and threw me in the river with my Nokia, and it never got over it.

I've heard Razors are very easily damaged with dampness. Maybe third time will be charm for me, and I'll be happy if they just send all the parts with this next one. My last replacement was missing the spring which holds the back cover on the battery.

Have Verizon Razr for 22 months and it works as originally intended. Just wish I could read screen in direct sunlight. I am currently out of town on business and brought the wrong battery with me (original battery but have another one at home). Original battery holds charge for a couple of hours. I stopped by a wireless shop at the mall and found that Razr batteries were available in extended size. I bought one and have been using it for a couple of days. I of my grumps with the Razr was the short battery time. Now with the extended battery I can go at least 1 1/2 days so far without charging. The extended battery is double the duration of the original battery. I would rate Razr's 6 on a 10 scale. Hopefully Verizon will come out with better phone selections in the future.
