Default what to do in Raleigh NC

looks like I'll be there for a couple weeks opening a shop.

How far from good water - boat will still be in MO just want to sit on the bank and fish and drink.

Also need commercial warehouse lease space - 5000 to 7000 sq ft - 2 to 5 year lease - samll office - anyone?

any decent local motels with a pool I can get a 2-3 week deal on? outskirts of town is OK.

Also need an apartment for a 6 month corporate rental.

and where to eat, drink and be merry with a new "friend"...

Joe;

I can help you with your last request, depending on your "tastes". Go to Sadlack's Heroes on Hillsboro Street across from the NCSU belltower. My favorite watering hole. Live bands for free many evenings, and lots of the crowd is in to fishing. Considered to be one of the worst dives in the area. If you can make it let me know. First cold PBR is on me.

shotting for the 30th right now, only planning a week or two however my experience tells me that when my boss says a week or two it means a month or two.

In any event - we will now have a shop so I will be in and out of town over the next few years.

And tell Trollnhell I'm not sure if it's safe to go our with him.

I've heard stories....

What the heck are you doing in Raleigh? I thought you were headed to Georgia or even Tennessee. Maybe they woudn't let you in!

Hey, if I were in Raleigh I'd head over to Durham and get me some good ole' Carolina barbecue at Bullock's. That place has been around since my very early days as I was born in Durham dang near 50 years ago.

You're only a couple of hours from the coast, so you could take a drive over there and see waters where Bayliners fear to tread!

Hey, is the old lady who plays bridge with your mom your new friend? Better break out the sunscreen there Bubba!

Roast Grill near downtown off Hillsborough. Outstanding hot dogs (not traditional NC - but outstanding). Just don't order ketchup. If you like your dogs cooked well, order them black. Also, don't forget the baklava for dessert. I've been thinking about driving over to Raleigh just for those dogs.

I was thinking the same thing. Burned hotdog's and a pound of sugar....while you are at it, don't forget the fried crow livers and rutabaga cake.

May I suggest a meal at 42nd Street Oyster Bar. You definitely need to ask around and get suggestions on the best place to get authentic NC style pork BBQ......that is the only way to eat a pig.

Listen, I know it sounds weird. It is owned by a Greek family that had the shop since the 40's. No fries, no chips, no ketchup. Just dogs, drinks & dessert. The dogs are outstanding, baklava is optional. www.roastgrill.com (it's better to click on the link to the original map and menu page).

I grew up in Raleigh and my large extended family is still there and this is news to me. I will have to check out that place on my next visit.....the only junk food I actually eat includes hot dogs....and this place appears to be Hot Dog Heaven.

There was another very old Greek owned restaurant downtown that served super cheap and extremely tasty gyro's, beef tips and rice, etc.....I can not remember the name but it was right off the street they closed and made into a walking mall - I think that was Fayetteville Street.

Another golden oldie is the Char-Grill for a great grilled hamburger.

Man, I had forgotten all about that place, its been about 15 years since I've been there. Just a little "hole in the wall". They are some good dogs, and yes ... out of the ordinary.
