Default Commercial Free Radio???

I just came into the 21st century and got a Siruis satellite radio. Hooked it up for the house and it's great. But, where is this "commercial free" radio? About every third song they advertise for Sirius. Duh dudes, I just bought Sirius. I just paid a freaking subscription to who? Sirius. YOU ALREADY SOLD ME! Now I have to listen to your freaking commercials. Does XM do the same thing?

Sorry, I feel a little better now. Not a lot, but a little.

I purchased some sirius stock early and sold at a good time.....I knew that sooner or later...there will have to be advertising to some degree and people will lose interest. But it has not got to that point yet and time will tell if this commercial free thing remains true. I do like the satellite radio though...but I still gotta have Lex and Terry in the morning.

Not all the channels have ads on them. Once in a while I'll listen to one of the classical stations. Not a one.

What music channels have commercials? The ones I listen to don't....they have mindless dj patter from time to time but no commercials.

You do find commercials on the news feeds (CNN, FOX) etc... and on the sports (ESPN, Sirius Sportsradio), but then you just change to a music channel......

XM carries certain content "as-is", e.g. WSIX out of Nashville, so you will hear commercials.

Their music channels will air channel identification spots, but never commercials--for XM or anyone else.

I've never heard Sirius, so I don't know how it compares, but I've never heard anything on XM's music channels that would qualify as a commercial.

The music channels on Sirius have no commercials. The talk / news channels do, because most of them are not really exclusive to Sirius. They are picked up from other radio networks.

The "ads" for Sirius may have something to do with FCC rules requiring at station ID - but I do not know for sure about that. There is some DJ chatter on some channels as well as cross promotion of other channels. Sometimes this is good, I found out that Sirius carries Radio 1 from the UK that way.

XM used to have commercials on some music stations (the ones most people were listening to in the first place). They stopped that years ago because Sirius was commercial free and XM was afraid of loosing potential subscribers.

All things considered, satellite radio is by far better than the crap on the FM dial. And I do not think anyone under the age of 90 still listens to the garbage on Ancient Modulation radio.

i think you may be confusing a station identification with a commercial........the feds say they have to do a station id every so often

and just for the record......the "commercials" are fro someone hearing your music in the background, not for you, like you said they already sold you, its the people listening to it other then you that they are there for
