Default Croquet Set

Any backyard Croquet chaps out here..

My old one has disappeared and I need a new one and can't find the classic 1950's set even on line. The new ones seem cheap. Anyone recommend a place to get one. On line and Dicks has the closest thing (sportcraft) with a cart and regulation balls (for about 130!!!) and normal size mallets but the reviews at Amazon all say its cheap and no one would buy another.

Any suggestions? Need this for a lawn party for my twins birthday in a couple weeks....

Thanks!!

Hi LI, have you tried Ebay? I love playing croquet and spent endless summers playing it with the neighborhood kids. Those were the good 'ol days...

How did you like the LLbean set? Is it 28 inch mallets and 3.2 in dia balls? I'll have to call them. Not much description on their web-site.....

I tried Ebay and lost every auction - I went up to $130 for the classic set I had and apparantly the old ones are collectors items. Other sets had cheaper (light plastic) balls and short mallets. Also, I am afraid to log into ebay right now as someone has apparantly used my name and I haven't straightened that out yet.

Thanks I'll check out the LLBean one today!!!

I like the pink ball best.

Hey, its a family tradition and one of the few outdoor games where the little ones can play on par with the adults. I especially like to "send" my wife's ball.

Actually yes, sort of. You can get grooved balls. There are places that will groove your balls. Try it.

Definitely go to ebay. Type croquet into the search and there are tons of old sets for sale.

I think I may have tried that, a few years ago in Thailand...
