Default My pal has gone to doggie heaven

After 12 years, and over seeing the birth of my three kids, I had to put my dog Amadeus down tonight........

If you have never done this you have no idea......

He will be deeply missed.... Godspeed my friend

Mojo,

I am sorry for the loss of your dog Amadeus.

It seems a bad deal that such wonderful animals have such short life spans. They pack alot in their time, though. Those are the times to be remembered.

Sorry to hear about your loss. You'll always have the memories, and if you had to put him down, i'm sure you did a good deed by not allowing him to suffer and by giving him the gift of a peaceful departure. We did the same to a very special little friend.

I'm sure you will get another, and the joy and attention you'll get from a new bouncing little puppy will go a long ways toward healing the hurt.

Coming from a far more sincere tone this time Mojo, really sorry to hear that.
May Amadeus now have all the best fields to run and play in and every fire hydrant has his own scent on it.

Put our 14 year old lab/shepherd cross down last year. Tough, really tough. All five of us held her as the vet injected her.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Man I hate these threads like this!

Everytime I read one I think about my old dog. She's been gone almost 4 years and I still miss her.

Go get yourself another friend Mojo, they won't take his place, but you have a good home and alot of care to give. Some lucky dog out there needs you!

There is nothing I can say that hasn't been said so I'll just say I'm sorry. Time will heal.

Whoa, that was one of the most touching things i've read in a long time. Thanks Menzies. I'm gonna print it out and hang it up with a picture of the little one we had to put down a few years back.

Pug, here's another one that I read and re-read when Mullet made his last trip to the vet.

Treat me kindly, my beloved friend,
For no heart in all the world is more
rateful for kindness than the loving
heart of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick,
For though I should lick your hand
between blows, your patience and
understanding will more quickly
teach me the things you would
have me learn.

Speak to me often, For your voice is
the world's sweetest music, as you must
know by the fierce wagging of my tail
when your footsteps fall upon my ears.

Please take me inside when it is cold
and wet, For I am a domesticated
animal, no longer accustomed to the
bitter elements. I ask no greater glory
than the privilege of sitting at your
feet beside the hearth.

Keep my pan filled with water, for I
cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.
Feed me clean food that I may stay well,
to romp and play and do your bidding,
to walk by your side, and stand ready,
willing and able to protect you with
my life, should your life be in danger.

And, my friend, when I am very old, and
I no longer enjoy good health, hearing
and good sight, do not make heroic
efforts to keep me going.

I am not having fun. Please see that my
trusting life is taken gently. I shall
leave this earth knowing with the last
breath I drew, that my fate was always
safest in your hand.

I know it's hard, Moj, but this is the best thing that you can do. Now you will always know your friend's final resting place, a place of comfort and familiarity. You did right by Amadeus.

Sorry for your loss.

Mojo, I am so sorry for the loss you have suffered, having been through it in January with Bailey I know what you're feeling.....

It sure seems that we (THT'ers) have lost a lot of furry friends in the past 10-12 months, it makes me wonder if Wiley needs to get off his rump and get a THT going up there just for them while they wait for us....... to include PM's of course.....
