Default Question about Air Conditioners in salt air

My dealer told me my Air Conditioner at my house (out-side) would only last about 4 to 5 years due to the salt air environment I live in. (Because of the Aluminum coils...)

Is there anything I can do to prolong the life of it. I have searched the web but not found a solution.

I know I could wash it off with fresh water regularly.....

Thanks

I got about 20 years from mine and I'm about 100 yards from the Gulf of Mexico.

Most major manufacturer's, (Carrier, Trane), offer a condenser coating made specifically for salt spray. Your installation professional should be able to provide further information on this.
