Default Water pump for farm Pond

I have a farm pond that is about 1/4 acre in size with bream, bass, and a few catfish. It is basically a hole in the ground with no water source. Keeping a good, constant water level has never been an issue during the past five years, but as a result of our drought, it has gotten pretty low and the thought of getting a pump has come up. Curious if anyone has any input on windmill pumps / gas / or electric. Just kicking the idea around and trying to decide the best / most cost efficient route.

are you talking about one to aireate the water or to pump water from some where else.for an aireator i would use a sump pump for a sewer tank.i have those on a friends 3 ponds and they work good and i get them all the time and normally the only thing wrong with them is the switch.but there only about 100 bucks anyway

Pump water from the ground as to replenish it. Keeping the water level up during times of no rain.

As far as operating costs goes, you can't get any cheaper then a windmill pump........turn of the century pretty much every farm going used one. I know TSC and other farm supply outlets sell them.
