Default Question for Eyeball

I have a Nikon D80 with 18-35 lens. I have learned a lot and am still learning. I need a zoom lens directed primarily at taking shots of my daughter on the move from a distance. I have gotten a lot of advice and now understand the glass makes all the difference. I want your opinion on what lens to get. It must be hand held and I think th VR is worth it but I may be wrrong.

Thanks

Now I'm not Joe, but if they make a 35 to 85mm zoom for your camera I think it would be just what you're after. Stay with the Nikon lenses, yes they cost more but the quality is there.

Garrett go it right, however my preference would be a 28 to 85mm which would make it possibly the only lens you would ever use for both close-ups and longer distance. Or if you want a little longer lens get a 28 to 135mm. Or.....The list goes on and on as does the cost of the Nikon lens.

Hope this helps.
