Default Question for the Smoke Quitters

Any experience with Chantix? I just started with it five days ago. It said to establish your quit date one week after starting the pills. Well, that day is coming in 48 hours. I'm wondering what to expect when I put down the smokes.
What's this I hear about wierd dreams? I haven't had any unless I been dreaming wierd all along and don't know the difference.
Thanks for any help.

Its been 2 plus month for me so far. I used Chantix for about 3 weeks. The side effects for me were worse than the withdraw from the cigs. Weird wacked out dreams, I mean freakin strange. Dry mouth with bad really bad taste. I also now know what morning sickness is like. I had to take the stuff with plenty of food. Still want to try it? Like I said, I used it the 1st 3 weeks or so, that was 2 plus months ago. Due a google search on the drug, seem many people go thru the same stuff.

Just quit a chew habit using chantix. Basically if I was awake I had chew in my mouth. So I was REALLY hooked. Have been off of the chew for three months.

Chantix has varying side effects.

1. Dreams - Some very odd dreams. some fun some distrubing.
2. A metallic taste -- I am unsure if it was from the chatix or from my taste buds starting to taste again.
3. A bit of mud butt.
4. I think it messed with my emotions a bit. I never get wound up and pissed. Seemed like I did more often. That may be an effect of quitting and not the chantix.

I stayed on the chantix for 2 1/2 months. I took the chantix for a week extra before I quit. Just wasn't ready.

MAKE IT OFFICIAL, put your name on the other thread. It helps in your commitment and to know there are other people out there.

Good Luck!

Dave

What's the initiation fee on the Smoke Quitters thread? I don't know if I could stand the pressure if I took the pledge. Only about sixteen hours to my quit date. I better go have a smoke now!

I just started my trial pack Chantrix 2 days ago. Explains the weird dream last night. Dry mouth, no bad taste, yet. I will post on the other thread in due time.

Ever quit before? It's the same thing without the urge to smoke - sleep problems, eating problems, temper problems. Good thing I'm not a dog or someone would have put me down. These problems are related to nicotine withdrawal and not Chantix. I took the stuff for 2 weeks before I quit, then just put the smokes down and that was that. If you go into this with your eyes open and are prepared for some of the uncomfortable side effects then you'll survive. I stopped taking the drug 4 weeks after I quit and haven't gone back yet - it's been 5 months. The $200 I save each month pays for the little whaler I bought in March - so it's a trade off I'd make again any time.
