Freebird,
The phones were purchased from a licensee of BB, and although the phones were not directly bought from them, they share responsibility and are culpable. That licensee shared the profit with BB.
Sending the phones back are not the problem here...it is how this situation has been handled. I wouldn't have a problem sending them back if what they sent me was comparable to what I originally bought, and wasn't of sub-standard quality.
Believe me.....BB(or any other nation-wide retailer)doesn't want to piss off a customer, especially in a situation where the customer did everything right and still ended up getting screwed. It's a matter of taking it on up the ladder if necessary. My experience has shown me that if a customer is tenacious--especially if righteously so--they will be successful in being taken care of.
My comments about the pics were tongue-in-cheek...here lately it seems like if you don't have proof of your claims, you are automatically branded a troll and summarily dismissed. What exactly are you referring to?

I haven't stepped foot in a Worst Buy in over 8 years and have no future plans to do so.
Gotta come clean here. I lied. Did go in a Worst Buy when I was out of town and was in the market for a HD TV. I found what I wanted and then called the wifie and told her which one to pick up at Circuit City. I just had to get that off my concious.

This is why we are supposed to be dealing with the small neighborhood guy......
but you know for him to compete...... $$$$

After a like situation .... I happily spend my money at my local Cingular store where I can deal face to face!
I hate to burst your bubble on the Cingular deal as I too am a specialty business owner who knows what it's like to compete with the big guys who have no idea what it is they are selling and no idea of what customer service really is.

Cingular stores are just storefronts for their corporate headquarters who calls all the shots. You'll find that out if you ever have a problem with your phone after 30 days.

I couldn't even separate our family call plan when the wife and I were on the outs without doing it through their main office by phone. The local store was kind enough to let me use their phone to make the call. Fifteen minutes of being placed on hold after 37 button presses had me head for the door asking them what their purpose was in that store.

One of the many problems I incurred when I mentioned the earlier experience with a bad phone came as a result of that being the 3rd phone I had been through with Cingular since switching to them. When I went to their store in Florida, they pulled up my account on their computer and told me the phone I had was not one I bought from them!!!

Apparently the folks in my local store screwed up and it looked like I still had the first phone I had purchased from them which was a high dollar mini-PC deal complete with a pullout keyboard. What a piece of junk that turned out to be. When I explained I was on my second Razor after that wizphone, he told me the Razor was out of store replacement warranty even though I had owned it for less than two weeks!!! Their warranty period on a replacement phone begins as of the date you bought the very first phone!!!

I told that guy this would be the same as my trading cars at the local Chevy dealer when mine was about to run out of warranty. Two weeks later, my new car blows up... "Sorry Mr. Register, your warranty on your new car picked up from the date you bought the one you traded in." DUH!!!!!!! He did confirm that I would have NO warranty on a replacement phone that was actually brand new if it was a replacement for a phone which had crapped out on the 30th day!!!

I hate to put more rain on your parade about your cell phone warranty replacement probems, but I bet you will run into the same deal with your "new" phone.

TN,

I had a prob. with my Razor that I bought from them..... i took it back to the store and the guy that owns the place fixed it in store for thirty bucks....... Corp. wanted $ 225.00 I got the phone for $99.00 I am not saying all stores will work like this, but this owner went out of his way for me! As someone else said if you can find a store like this its worth the extra bucks to keep them in Business!!!

I never take NO for an answer from someone who isn't authorized to say YES in the first place...Never deal with the underlings, go right to the manager and make sure he/she understands that you know crap rolls downhill and you are prepared to start at the top of the hill with the company CEO.
That you expect them to do the right thing, that they have given good service etc in the past which is why you patronized them in the first place.

It always works for me...polite, firm, totally unyielding in your position .....the customer is ALWAYS right used to the motto of most companies..I have made it mine.

The comment I made was not directed at you personally as to suggesting somebody post pics of phones they saw on eBay.

I think you and I are in agreement as to some who think you have to show a picture (like that couldn't be faked) of whatever it is you talk about on this forum just to prove something. Then you have the folks who complain when you do post a picture as they consider it to be bragging about something you are using to provide evidence you know what the heck you're talking about.

Just as is the case with some of the retailers out there, you just can't seem to win certain arguments no matter what proof you offer. No doubt, when you have a problem in a store, going to the top can sure save a lot of time and trouble. As I previously commented, it's just too bad we have to raise a stink to get businesses to do what they should be doing out of appreciation for the fact we bought from them in the first place.

I am not a bitcher yeller and screamer , in fact I am shopper shy and leary of everyone and everything - I think its the new world order or something. I don't but a thing unless absolutely necessary these days. I absolutely hate to shop for among others the stuff said above, pretty much all stores give me anxiety. And the bigger, the more anxiety.

In my experience the older the phone the better. I have a nextel thats seven years old, its an i58sr, and the thing is practically indestructable. But for a phone thats truely indestructable some of the first nextels were mil-spec and they could be run over by bobcats and still be intact - they put a whole new meaning to "they dont make them like they use to" --- on the whole best buy thing i heard they were dismissing their most experienced employees in favor of lower cost "unskilled" employees, basically the kind that quit after a few months - more turnovers less in payroll.

Wow it isn't just my imagination. My original bell atlantic service with a bag phone was crystal clear and hands free - EVERY subsequent phone from Verizon was worse and worse - they should spend the money on reception and voice quality instead of all this added crap I don't need - INCLUDING ADVERTISING - can you hear me now????????

I htink the youngins have developed some kinda digital hearing or something,,,,I don't get it - all the new cell phones sound like CRAP to me

maybe you need the picture and text to convey the mesage acuse the voice just ain't making it - maybe thats why they are downgarding the voice - so we gotta but these extra services???? ba$tards
