Default Annoying expressions...

Is it just me or do certain expressions just drive you nuts?

Beyond the over used "um", "you know", "like" and "dude" is there any particular word or expression that just drives you nuts?

The one that really makes my teeth itch is, "ANYWHO." WTF-people, is this a Dr. Seuss book? Stop using that annoying word. PLEASE!

Then there are the ghetto colloquialisms:

"hater" or "don't hate" uhhhh.

"Fo Shizzle" and any subsequent, "nizzle", "izzle"

"AXE" instead of ask

"Been Had Known" = already knew

"getting my: groove, eat, drink on"...uggg

"I have a taste for" instead of I'm craving or hungry for...

"phat"

"da bomb"

"be-ahtch"

"you go girl"

"chillin"

"talk to the hand"

"case quarter, dime, nickle" i.e., 25 cents, 10 cents, 5 cents in the form of a quarter, dime or nickel instead of the random change that could make up each denomination. Just ask for friggin quarter, dime or nickel...wtf does a case have to do with this? This is usually the homeless crack head or whiskey rat expression, when they're begging.

"ink pen" WTF do you think I have on me... a pencil pen? a hat pin, a straight pin? Just say or ask for a PEN...most people don't carry the other "pins" around in their pocket.

Country/redneck-ism's:

"Get-er-done" dammmm...I hate you "Larry the Cable Guy"...you were funny at first but too damn many people regurgitate your work now and think they're cute.

"I'm over it" = I'm tired of something

Idioms:

"as it were" ...even if you cant see the person using this expression, it brings to mind some pompous a$$, tea sipping, fly fisherman with wire framed glasses, an accent and a golden retriever or kid named "Caleb" geesh.

OK, I'm really not going off the deep end here, its just nails on a chalk board when I hear some of these. It really burns a hole in my a$$. Some people are like parrots, they hear a phrase and mock it over and over again. Maybe I need to get out of the city more often? There are so many more. I'm just getting warmed up. Don't get me going on commercials...

Hey, Larry done a helluva fine job fixin' my TV. Some of them fellers don't know how to work on a black and white bigscreen in a mobile house trailer these days. He got er done, but now that Dale Earnhardt got hisself kilt, I can't tell who nobody else is without lookin' up them damm numbers.

One of my pet peeves as a writer is when someone says " I could care less" about something, when they think that they are expressing how little they care about it. If they could care less, then they are actually saying that they DO care, and that they potentially might still care, but just not as much. But this typically is not what they are thinking. They usually say it with some smug little smirk, as if they are getting their point across that they do NOT care about the topic being discussed. Why not just say it the right way, "I couldnt care less", meaning that they absolutely can have no lower level of care than they already do at that time. That the subject is inconsequential.

Oh well, sound like a dumbass, I could care less.

"Don't take this personally..." - then you know he's about to get personal.

"I don't like to gossip but...." - then she's about to gossip!

And why do reporters even bother putting a microphone in front of an athlete, knowing they'll get the same answer every time....."well...you know....I mean we just want to give 110 percent.....I mean, you know as long we play as a team...because there is no "I" in team.....and, well, you know......blah blah blah blah......"
