Thanks for the reminders - will do! what do you guys do with the old flares - I keep a few as back-up but have lots of extra expired

I keep mine (about 12) in ziplocks in my ditch bag, separate from the unexpired ones.

I'm also planning to light a couple, I've never lit one but understand the burn is pretty violent. I want to have done it before I have to do it in an emergency situation and I want my wife and daughter to know how to do it too.
