Default Kentucky Derby??

I am watching the morning coverage of the Derby, anybody here going to make it.

Not much of a horse racing fan but I do love watching all the leadup and the Derby itself.

Just such a cool Southern Tradition

You think they'd let me in if I wore my giant nerf cowboy hat?

Crushed ice, fresh mint, good bourbon, little bit of mint flavored sugar syrup. I have them here every spring when our mint patch comes up. I got hooked on them when we lived in Kentucky and spent our weekends at Churchill Downs.

Going to the Derby is one of those things that I want to try someday! The "Queen Mum" is gonna be there today ans she is no stranger to "funky hats"!

It's not the Queen Mom - it's the Queen herself. The Queen Mom dies a few years back.

But, you are correct - she needs to dump those hats!

Great sport if you're not a horse I've been around "retired race horses" translated-not fast enough, or broke down- and owned one. Took about 3 years to get her to calm down enough to do anything with her. She never was much to ride, couldn't over-ride the track experience in her, so we just retired her, and let her live out her life in pease. Not ashamed to admit I cried when we put her down (old age). She was a sweet mare and could have been a great horse, if only... Lady RIP.
Sorry if I stepped on any toes (actually I'm not) but but this "sport of kings" is awfully tough on its players. You only see and hear of the fastest ones.
