Default The official Stanley Cup playoff thread

Any other hockey fans besides me?

Who do you like in the playoffs?

Is Pittsburgh too inexperienced, or is youth their benefit?

Can Buffalo go the distance?

Can the Islanders continue their Cinderella story?

Can anyone stay awake for a New Jersey game?

Is it the same old story with the Sens - no toughness?

Can Joe Thornton get over the label of not being a post season player? (For the record, how come Boston can not get players like Thornton - oh wait a minute!!!)

Anyone else?

Detroit could be tough this year - plus they have a Rhode Island connection!!!

Unfortunately, with the NHL wacky schedule and TV rights, I know very little about the Western teams.

Yah but recently Detroit has a strong history of not being able to stand the heat in the kitchen!

Since my Leafs have fallen from the tree I think I'll stand behind Buffalo for the remainder. ......sure hope I don't need a third pick.

Garett:

What did you expect when you signed Hal Gill and Andrew Raycroft

There is a reason he was called "three goal Raycroft" in Boston

I think it will be Detroit and Buffalo in the finals. Team hasn't been the same since Bowman retired. Couple of the guys needed to retire. With Datsuk scoring the other night and getting out of his playoff slump (26 games) he'll bring more heat. Now if Hasek can stay on his game and Bertuzzi ever gets better they will make it. Won't that be great if Hasek has to play against Buffalo? I just haven't watched that much this year. I'm still p!ssed Shanahan left.

Yuup, there have been some dramatic changes with the Wings in recent years . . . Scotty, Yzerman, Shanahan, McCarty, soon to be Chelios. Its tough to survive those sorts of losses and still win.

All these Devils fans, I can not take it!!!!! Sorry, too boring a team for me, but another team with an RI connection.

One thing we do not lack in our state is a shortage of hockey talent.

From the did you know file, the first 2 American players ever drafted number 1 overall in the NHL are both from Rhode Island.

Sixpack - I still play every now and then.

SIXPACK: Me too. Right winger in a casual (recreational) men's league, but its a sad thing to witness (i.e., I 'suck'). I'm lucky to get a point a week! Good fun hip-checkin' all the street punks though! Bah-haaaa!

I'm a fan, only sport I'm really a fan of anyway besides Supercross but with no cable, I cannot watch a thing.

With no Bruins I have no real favorite but I do like that Crosby just for being 18 and leading the league, that is not easy. Ovechkin is a better player but his team struggles.

I don't root for the Islanders because I think that them signing DiPietro for 15 years was foolish. Plus he is from MA and I know some buddies that played with him but I still don't root him on.

Aren't the Sens leading the Pens?

Thornton, oh man, he does well in SJ, 2nd place in scoring by being an assist machine like Adam Oates was when he was here.

I have no real favorite but love playoff hockey more than anything and it will be over before I know it and I'll have to read the Globe and see what the Bruins might do in the offseason again.

I'm still out there playing rental hockey but it is waning as many of the rinks have closed as many do come early March. Best game on the planet for sure, even for all us hacks.

Yuup, its kinda sad. With the economics of it, the player lock-out of '04-05, andother stuff, the game seems to beslowly dying. Ithink it startedwhen players like Marty McSorley, Bob Probert, and Dougie Gilmour all retired. Where have all the cowboys gone anyway?
