Default Anyone have experience with a Dodge Viper?

Anybody experience one?
1994 Black RT/10 Just under 8k miles, CA car, AC is installed. This Viper is super clean and virtually flawless. Stored covered in a heated garage and maintained religiously (even has newer tires as the old ones were getting hard). Don't miss out on this awesome Viper $39,500

I considered one about 10 years ago,but can't stray from the Germans, unless I visit the Italians.
I have never driven a Viper,a friend with one said the floor get hot as hell, don't know if it's true or not.
The only thing that turns me off is the interior, for a $70,80,90K car,I don't want an interior that is shared with a minivan.
I think it's a very cool car in looks and performance, and alot of bang for the buck.

If you enjoy riding around in the rain in a go kart with no creature comforts while getting wet, they're pretty cool with all the wind in your face even with the "top" on!

Other than that, the V-10 is a hoot! With that in mind, I'd probably opt for the Dodge SRT pick up myself. It rides better, is WAY more comfortable, and you can actually use it for something other than impressing teenagers.

I hope my view wasn't to negative if you are trying to sell that Viper, but that pretty much sums of the experience I have with them. Haven't driven the newer one with a real convertible top yet though, but really haven't wanted to. Too bad you can't get a new ZO6 in convertible form. I sure do miss having a ragtop since parting with my Vette in 2000, but I love the ZO6 motor in my CTS-V!

Wanna race that Viper in the rain?

About 8 years ago, I drove one on a windy 2 lane here in Southwestern, PA. I remember being very impressed with how well it handled and stuck to the road. It exceeded my expectations in that regard. Very plain on the inside. But that was fine as far as I'm concerned. Very clean and uncluttered looking under the hood. I couldn't say anything negative about the car. I haven't driven alot of cars that are in that catagory that I could compare it to though. The person that owned the one I drove has since sold it and bought another one. That same person also owns an Astin Martin. Before the Astin Martin, he owned a Ferrai. I never drove either the Astin Martin or Ferrai though.

No doubt about that. Most older Vipers are low mileage for a very good reason.

They're great sunny week-end cars, but I wouldn't want to take one very far from home. I'm afraid to drive a later model one for fear I might like it too much!

The only Mopar product I've driven within the last five years or so is a Hemi Magnum. That was an impressive car in all respects, but I thought I wanted the SRT-8 version and bought my Caddy before I found one to drive. Dusted an SRT-8 Charger the other day, so maybe I didn't miss anything after all. Too bad they didn't drop a six speed into those things, or at least that's probably what the driver of the SRT-8 thought when he saw my tail lights!

My uncle has a 96 convertible (that's what they call the targa.) I've driven it a bunch and had the pleasure of driving a coupe at Skip Barber racing school in CT.

Hot! Temp and fun. The exhaust manifolds are on your left (you've got the big sill to voyage over to get in) and the engine/tranny is on your right. The torque and grunt is like nothing I've experienced. The car feels a lot bigger than it is. You notice it coming into turns hot. There were times when I wondered if all that iron was going to go where I intended because it's like a big dog lumbering sometimes.

Occasionally, I felt some understeer (when the car keeps going straight even though you want to turn) which I didn't expect. It feels very, I don't know, primal. It's not a refined feel like a 911 or a newer Vette. It feels like a 60s muscle car (which was the goal.) It also feels like the tires do a hell of a lot of work that the suspension would in other cars. That being said, driving one is a rush.

I've driven it a couple of hours at a time, and have never owned one. Don't know what it would be like to drive more consistently. I imagine it is a tiring car to drive often. I drive my uncle's Viper pretty hard, and I get out hot, sweaty and a little sore -- so it's a lot like sex.

But a Viper is one of those things that has "it." It gets noticed. It gets admired. It has presence. I'm glad I have periodic access to one.

Anyone have experience with a Dodge Viper?

I've had several experiences with Vipers...... They always end up in the rear view mirror of my Corvette. Nice cars, I just like the corvette for the $$$$$$. I've had 15 of them and would never change. To each their own, as they say.

Hell son, If you can fornicate as long as you can drive your Uncle's Viper on a track, you need to send me a PM! If you really want to show your stuff, fornicate in the Viper for two hours and we'll all erect a statue in your honor!

I'd have to think you're comparing a later model 911 to the C-5 or C-6 Vette in the refined department where feel is concerned. I've driven 911's and 930's and they are real tail happy! Pre-'97 Vettes were anything but refined in any category IMHO.

I never put a Viper through it's paces. A trip through town followed by a five mile stretch of interstate is all it took to make me forget about one. Now for the other fellow talking about seeing Viper's in his rear view mirror while driving his Vette, I'd have to assume one of two things. You either have a late model ZO6 with an LS7, or you started in front of the Viper who is about to eat your lunch!
